Sojourner’s Journey
Chapter 5
An Odd Invitation
Alyssa was frozen. She was horrified that she could be related to this, this monster. She was also furious. That fury grew to overwhelm her, and then, then she did the unthinkable. The strange mark flashed again and out of her hand came a ball of lightning, bombarding her aunt. Her aunt fell to the floor and did not move.

Zantos sighed and shifted positions on the porch. What was taking so long? The girl had almost gotten the Sojourner killed, and now he was waiting on her porch? What was wrong with him?
The girl came rushing out of the house in tears and ran onto the highway. Zantos pursued her, dodging cars and nearly getting killed. Finally the girl collapsed on the side of the road weeping. Zantos crept up to her, “What’s wrong?”
Alyssa managed to sob out, “I just killed my aunt with my powers.”
He sighed and then comforted her, “Rinosian magic cannot kill, the worst it can do is knock someone unconscious. Your aunt will wake up with a terrible headache, but that’s the worst that could happen.”
She stood up puzzled, “Then how do you defeat your enemies in battle?”
“Um… we don’t kill them, just teleport them to the moon.”
“Oh”
“Why did you hurt your aunt?”
“She killed my mother. I can’t live with her anymore.”
“Then come with me, you are part Rinosian, although you can only subconsciously activate you powers now, we can make it where you can do it whenever you want.”
“I’ll go with you. I really don’t have much choice, do I?”

Alyssa arrived at the Rinosian campsite, where they were just packing up to leave. The Sojourner went out to greet Zantos. “Zantos, you have returned. And you brought a friend. Introductions are in order, I believe.”
“Yes of course, this is Sojourner Ouran, the one you almost got killed. Oh, and I don’t even know your name, how rude of me.”
“I’m Alyssa. Listen, Mr. Sojourner, I’m really sorry about what happened, I…”
“Don’t worry about it. Now, Zantos, we are about to go to the city for the winter and, as you know, it’s forbidden to let a human into the city.”
“Ouran, she is part Rinosian.”
“Really?”
“Yes sir, my dad was a Rinosian”
“Please, call me Ouran. Really, well I guess you can come and learn of your heritage and the city. Would you like to come?”
"Really, I'd very much like that... Ouran"
"So, would you like to go see if you can find any relatives on a normal transport, or would you like to go with me and Zantos?"

Tough luck on the SGOTM but you get top marks for trying and keeping going. :)
