Hello Citizens!

Announcing some important changes to the promotion process from 14th April 2007.

Abolition of the fee! That's right, promotions will now be free!

Authors will now be able to post their own polls in this forum. You will no longer have to wait for the mods to do this.

The Head Eaters may not wait for a SGame to be submitted, but pro-actively promote the Worthy.

Head Eaters will post comments in New SGames which should be noted if you wish the story to be promoted.

Further changes are in the pipeline, so expect more news soon!


New SGame process.

To ensure that the main forums are filled with an acceptable quality of SGame, the following procedures are now in effect:

Author starts New Storygame, and goes through one complete cycle of Chapter, Decision point, Poll, Vote and Second Chapter as normal.

If the Author is happy with the Storygame, and has received a number of comments they are content with, then they put in a request to be promoted. Some SGames may be promoted by the Head Eaters with no submission requests.

Submitted SGames will be reviewed by the Head Eaters as quickly as possible.

The Storygame is submitted it to a review process that looks at spelling, grammar, basic plot, chapter length and quality of decision point.

If the story needs some corrections, but is basically sound, then it will be promoted once those corrections have been made.
If a story is not up to promotion, the HEs will send you a PM with why, and suggestions on what you need to do to improve it.

Warning! The main forum moderators and Head Eaters will be on the look out for sloppy chapters and you may find yourself sent to New Storygames again if subsequent chapter quality drops.

Please note, we aren't looking for perfect writing here - a good spell check in MSWord will get most through the first review! But neither are we wanting a situation where Storygame Players with little time have to spend most of it looking through not-so-good Storygames for one they can settle down and read without tripping over a typo every sentence.

Guideline for new Sgames.

As a guide, the opening chapter must meet certain basic conditions before going on to tell an engaging story. These are:

- A valid decision point at the end of the chapter.

- Appropriate formatting in terms of paragraphs. Ideally paragraphs should be shown by leaving spaces between two of them or some similar innovative method.

- Eligible use of grammar and spelling. Remember we are here to promote good storytelling!

- A proper title!

- A reasonable length (1000 to 2000 words unless it is an experimental SGame.)

- A second chapter is then required so judgement can be made on the author's use of the decision point vote.


Promotion will be judged on the above criteria along with Moderator/Reviewer discretion (based on everything from plot and style to characterisation). If promotion is declined then clear and frank reasons will be given back to the author to work with.

You can't earn fables for posting in this forum.

Ok this may not be the right place to post this but I am still a litle lost.

I have read the FAQ but am still unsure on how I get to make a comment or make suggestions about someone's story. Where do i go, where do I write?

Actually, if you worm your way down to the Fantasy forest, for example, you can click on any of the links there. Just read and reply, read and reply. :D
