Not long after Fables were introduced, I started a SGame called: Good vs Evil vs Money also called 'Greed'.
It was, until very recently, my longest story. It certainly still is my most convoluted.
It reached about 30 chapters, and then I closed book 1, vowing to continue soon after.
Nearly two years later, I still haven't, despite many requests from various members still around.
Lately it has been impinging upon my conciousness more and more, the spirit of this SGame is strong grassspotter. However, upon going back and looking through the cast, I find only about 10 of the more than 30 (still living) characters in the story are still around, and to continue to Book 2 would mean a lot of killing and introducing replacements which, whilst not impossible, would severely impact the story I feel.
So, whilst still maintaining that Greed book 2 will be written at some point*, I've decided to make an all new one.
Hence, GREED! The Next Generation!
As a compromise to those who paid Fables back in the old Greed, I will be offering a 20% discount for their first winning bid in the new one.
I do realize that some IFians have a lot more Fables than others, and I have been considering a system to make it fair. However, that would be extra work. Let's just see how it goes first shall we?
I hereby declare Greed TNG officially open. May you spend your Fables freely!
How to bid:
There aren't any really hard and fast rules on what you can bid on. If you're not sure, bid anyway, and I'll decide if it's okay or not. However, 'traditional' bidding types are:
Bidding on a 'set' bid. eg: The hero. You bid, and specify what form you want the hero to take. eg: '200 for a young maiden with curly blond hair'.
Corrupting a bid: You may bid to change someone else's bid. eg: I bid 120 to make the hero have hair that changes color randomly.
A corruption bid may be a seperate bidding 'thread' or not, depending upon what it is. In the example above, the bid doesn't fundamentally change the hero bid, so it can be less than the hero bid. However, the next hero bid could again specify that they have curly blond hair, which would nullify the corruption bid. Or the 'hero' could bid on the hair color 'thread'. Either way. I'll make a decision on what the bid should be as the situation arises.
Neutralizing bid: If you don't like a bid, you can bid higher to nullify it!
Random bid: You can bid on something totally random. Maybe a character you would like to be in the story. Eg: I would like to be a sidekick, in the form of a talking rabbit. 100Fables.
You can see the old bidding thread, which is rather amusing in parts, in the old Good vs Evil vs Money forum. It's worth a look. :D
Rules:
Payment is required after the bid has been won, and included in the story.
Chinaren may, at times, suspend bidding.
Chinaren reserves the right to change the rules with no notice.
All bids must be made in this thread. The SGame thread will be for plot suggestions and votes, as per usual.
You must have the required Fables for a bid to be valid. ei: You can't bid 500 if you only have 300 Fables.
This SGame is designed to be fun, and IFians who don't bid may be inserted. However, but some material may not be to everyone's taste, if you don't wish to be added to the tale, or you don't wish your character to take part in certain, ~ahem~ acts, please post here or send me a PM stating so.
IFians with less than 500Fables may start bidding for random or corruption bids at 50Fables.
*Probably during the reign of the Smileys. |

There are four opening bids:
1. The Protagonist. (Hero)
2. The Main Villain.
3. The bid for title for the Story.
4. The setting. Fantasy? Future?
Please note: This is NOT an IF Tale! Bids for IF world settings will be rejected.
ALL bids start at 100Fables* Increments are in multiples of 20Fables only.
*Inflation, plus I have more expensive habits now. |

Well, I'm always ready to support a charity event (as my mail seemed to try and convince me) so I'll put in a bid for the main villan.
100 fables.
Question - by bidding for the main villan, what does that actually involve? Do I choose what they're like, or get some moderation of control over them? You really didn't describe it. |

Hmm. The hero should still be Key, he was in the last book, after all. The villain...well, I'm not going there, not with a daemon bidding on it. The name, I support wholeheartedly. Leaving...the setting.
Well, can I bid on a portion of the setting? At least, what I feel should be a part of the story? If so...200 fables. |

Excellent. So far we have then:
Main Villain - Lordy - 100F
Name of the tale - Envy - 100F by Z.
The setting: 200 by IM. IM, you should say what you want the setting to be now please.
The Hero - IF help me, MW - for 220F a piece of cloth.
Lordy, you should say what kind of villain you want to be. Demon, dragon, assassin, robot, whatever, so other players can pevert your bid. |

gee i hope you get some cheaper options on the books soon C'Ren or us newbites arent going to get a look in thats for sure.
Though i like the name Envy, it fits doesnt it?
AS for MW being the hero... maybe he could have a sidekick who is more endearing and ISNT a peice of cloth or lightning bolt thing...
And Lordy as daemon villain? sure, why not |

No, read the rules MW. You have to win the bidding, then wait until you are in the story.
I've updated the top thread as well, to help the newbies amongst us. :D |

Well, China, if you trawl through your massive list of PM's from around the time of the end of the first book, you'll find a suggestion from me. If you need a refresher, I'd be happy to type it up.
Oh, and I'd corrupt MW's bid, but unfortunately, I can't come up with anything worse than his bid. |

I get so many PMs that I'd be lucky to have old ones from last month, let alone from when Greed TOS* was still running. Please type it up in this thread IM, so other can bid on it if they wish.

Right, I'd like a portion of the setting to be as thus:
Two old deities, ones that most people have forgotten about, go around playing a game that looks remarkably like chess, perfectly aware that while they play, the story goes on down below... |

Very Pratchettinian IM. So be it, unless someone bids otherwise of course.
For round 2 of the bidding I will have a special on sidekicks that only IFians with less than 500Fables will be able to bid on, in smaller amounts, just to be fair. |

~Rubs hands together~ Excellent, this is what it's all about.
Updated bids then:
Main Villain - Lordy - 300F, Daemon.
Name of the tale - Envy - 100F by Z.
The setting: 400 by IM. - Two old deities, ones that most people have forgotten about, play a game that looks remarkably like chess, perfectly aware that while they play, the story goes on down below...
The Hero - Lily - 600F a manky wood cooking litch. Or something like that.
Whilst IM's bid is good, we don't still have a setting for this tale. Is it fantasy, sci-fi, modern day, post-apocolyptic, other? If someonehas a fancy, they can start the bidding at 100. If it somehow contradicts IMs bid, it must be higher. If not, then I'll choose a setting of course. |

Curroption bid....because I can:
Villian: Still Lordy the Deamon, only he's not a demon but a not so good looking or perhaps good looking or even average looking guy whose really really bad at being the bad guy because he's the good guy or incredible stupid whose been henpicked by other his wife or his "Mommy" into being the bad guy. 325 Fables.
Hero: Still a cranky hag who is very, very, very old that got somehow prodded into being the hero of a tale. Then somehow she, while maintain her crankiness and oldness, gets shoved into the body of an incredible hot, and incredibly naked Female Human for at least one whole scene. 625 Fables.
The Setting: Same as IM propused, only I'll pay you to make the players Key and other important and perhaps familiar governing figure with orange fur *cough* playing the game. 425 Fables.
*laughs manically* |

*falls over in shock* DIN! I am completely horrified that such a thing would come from you... but since you wanna play that way....hehehehe.
800 fables for the hero back to it's original (and please don't mistype it again Chinaren). A cranky but good-looking witch who was woken up way too early.
And 200 fables for Dinranwen being Lordy's nagging and pestering "Mommy". Even stranger, Lordy's got an Oedipus complex.
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! |

So, ~untangles the bidding~ latest bids are:
Main Villain - Lordy - Daemon.
Corruption bid by Din: Lordy the Deamon, only he's not a demon but a not so good looking or perhaps good looking or even average looking guy whose really really bad at being the bad guy because he's the good guy or incredible stupid whose been henpicked by other his wife or his "Mommy" into being the bad guy. 320* Fables
Name of the tale - Envy - 100F by Z.
The setting: 400 by IM. - Two old deities, ones that most people have forgotten about, play a game that looks remarkably like chess, perfectly aware that while they play, the story goes on down below...
Corrupted: 420*Fables for the 'gods' to be Key and Chinaren like beings.
The Hero - Lily - 800F a spanky good looking witch who's had it up to early. Or something like that.
Random bid: Lilith - 240 fables to make Dinranwen Lordy's nagging and pestering "Mommy".

needs to be a seperate bid Lilith, sorry, need to keep things straight.
