What has happened before:
You, Thadius LaFontania, were walking down the road to Sha-Lini, when suddenly, you met an old man. After helping him out with his afternoon chore of getting water for his tea, he gave you a pendant which would protect you. Unfortunantly for him, the pendant was what was keeping him alive.
Later on down the road, you met up with your friends, Mack and Mary, and they decided to go with you to Sha-Lini. Now, a few days later, you are at the city gates...

Mary comes back from talking to the gatekeeper. "He says we're welcome if we don't attack anyone."
You roll your eyes. Typical. Oh well, you have no other choice. "Very well, let's go in. You two," and here you point to Mack and Mary, "Will have to control yourselves."
You have no problem. You merely switch over to the human part of you, and walk to the gates. The guards fall back and let you enter, while keeping their eyes on your friends. You ask them, "Hello, where is a good inn with vacancies?"
The soldier in particular snaps to and replies, "The Dragon's Head, sir, is very to-do about houskeeping and meals. It is only a quarter of a mile in the town. Straight in, sir."
"Thank you. At ease."
He relaxes. Then you notice that he is wearing a peculiar pendant around his neck. You ask him, "And what is that?"
"This, sir? This is a pendant that tells the soldiers of Sha-Lini how powerful a person is in magical terms."
"Ah. And are you reading anything from me?"
He frowns and grasps the medallion. Suddenly, he gasps, and says, "Sir, you may want to know where our guilds are. Perhaps the magical one? It is only twenty paces to your immediate left when you enter the town."
Now it is your turn to frown. "I'll keep that in mind, though I don't know what for. Thank you for the information."
As you walk to the Dragon's Head, Mary asks, "And what was that all about?"
You reply, "He must have read something that needed attending to. Twenty to the left, was it? I'll go there in the morning."

"Ah, yes, we do have three rooms open at this time. Three pieces each."
You procure the bartender's gold, and he leads you up to your rooms. He continues talking. "These rooms are completly secure. I know a few cantrips, so I enchanted this place to be that way. They won't vanish until I die. If that happens, you're on your own."
You respond with, "Well, I hope it doesn't come to that. Listen, if some people come looking for me, will you lead them astray?"
"What sorts of people?"
"Anyone that knows my name to be Thadius."
He snorts. "I'll do that, though you'll be lucky if I don't let them to your room key!"
You sigh. "Actually, they can come if they know my mum's name."
"And what be that?"
"Elshinger."
Suddenly, he calms a little. "Aye, that I'll do."
"Thanks to you. Now, if you don't mind, I need a bit of rest."

You wake up with your advisor's face about three inches away from yours. Never a pleasant sight. He notices that you are awake, and he jumps back. You sit up, yawn, and say, "And here I was, thinking I had at last got away from you."
He looks furious. He spouts off, "YOU SHOULD HAVE COME BACK! THE PALACE IS OVERRUN! REBLES EVERYWHERE! HALF THE WORLD BELIEVES YOU DEAD, THE REST A TRATIOR! THOSE BLOODY WIZARDS ARE ON A RAMPAGE!"
You throw a spell of silence at his mouth. You say, "Now, are you going to calm down, or will I have to throw you to them?"
He shakes his head rapidly.
"Good. Now, what did you come here for?"
You remove the spell. He calmly says, "You need to go to the guild. Something has changed, for the worse I feel."
You leave the room, the advsior following. Suddenly, you feel the protection around the inn has failed. Only one thing could have happened. You rush down the stairs, knowing the truth, and yet hoping that it hasn't happened.
There lying down on the bar is the bartender. Stone dead, without any blood. Only one thing could have happened. He must have been killed by a spell.
Appearing out of nowhere, the head wizard stands next to the bartender. There is no introduction, no banter. He just suddenly throws a spell of death at you.
The crystal pendant flashes. You switch to your conglomerate-of-all-minds mode, and dodge.
The spell hits your advisor.
He falls.
No blood.
Just stone dead.
You note all this as you reply with a banishment spell, one that will get the head wizard out of the way for a little bit.
He is hit by the spell, and he vanishes.
You have no time to grieve, you wake your friends, and get to the harbor. You bargian for a ship that will take you far away from here.
By the time you remember all of this, you are sailing off to nowhere in particular. Then it hits you, and you grieve. As you sail, you realize what the crystal pendant does. It gives your fate to another close by. You can't keep it. It will destroy everyone you meet and know. Then you realize that you were fated to die, and that your advisor took the blow for you. Faithful until death, that was his vow. Now he no longer needs to keep it.

Vary Nice but why throw the crystal pendant just hiding it would be the better thing to do then if you found your self in a problem that leads only to your death you could still get it to face your problem and it is a little unnerving to know that you have no protection from that death spell

Why did he just hit with a banishment spell if he had a good shot? People with slaying spells are after his head so its time to fight fire with fire and kill some of the head wizards off. So much for proving him self.

He sort of had protection. The crystal flashed as it re-adjusted the fate of Thadius. Besides, the death spell takes some time to work out. The head wizard had his all ready. Now, put yourself in Thadius' shoes. If you were hunted by wizards who couldn't kill you, but were forced to kill your friends, would you keep the thing that killed your friends?
Besides, if you killed the head wizard, you would be strengthing the propaganda that is spreading. Wouldn't it be easier if you attained your throne without bloodshed?

I still would not throw a magical pendant away I would find a safe place for it unteal a time came when I would go to the wizards on my own so that they would never get a nother shot at me or one of my friends. To go to them and not attack just to whach them detroy them selves that would stop them from ever coming after you agin word may even spread that you could not be killed and to attack you ment only death that would protect your throne bether than leaving so meany with the idea that you are an easy target and will not attack even a man who kills your advisor right infront of you. A banishment spell and some swift runing will not save you or the people around you some times you must fight.

I have no clue, same as you, Gamer9999...
But all it would take would be one warrior to dislocate your pendant after word spread, then a lucky fool, and this story would be over.
I'm thinking that if he somehow gets the pendant adjusted, so that harm towards Thadius merely misfires in a safe disposable way, that we have the best of both worlds.

Now that is a good idea get the pendant adjusted so that your fate is swiched with the one cating the spell not the person who is closses to you then you have no wores or at lest no wores about the pendant you still have to come up with what you are going to do about the little problem of every one out to kill you but one down at lest.
Allso, no mater what all it takes is one lucky fool and the story is over that is why rpgs are so grate no one shot will take your cariter down you have time to do somthing about what ever is hapning.

Right. One consideration: you just sailed off to where? For all you know running away instead of figuring out what was up in the town (and the guild, perhaps?) just sent you on a nice long boat ride to possibly a worse destination. And the old mans pendant. So it hurts the closest person around you and you want it fixed? you probably could have gotten someone to look at it in town. And forget making it send the danger to a safe place where noone gets hurt, have it be a mirror, shoot it back at wherever the danger came from instead of the closest person. Back to the boat. Big boat in the middle of water isn't so safe, don't you think? I mean, if that wizard randomly appeared out of nowhere at the inn, then couldn't he do something like that on the boat, where you have nowhere to run? That's all for now, though I'm sure I'll come up with more soon.

Okay, well, let's see...
The world is half water and land, so every lake on the part of the land means that there is an equally large island in the ocean. So he wouldn't need to sail far to find people that the wizards missed.
Okay, The mirrior thingy sounds cool. Didn't think of that.
Next on the agenda...The boat.
Well, the town doesn't move. It stands still. The boat, however, moves all over the ocean. So, by the time the wizards found out where you are, you've moved.
Last item...Yes, there is a way for new stories, but you haveta go to 'submit' on the main page. If keavany likes your idea, and you're a member, then he'll e-mail ya. Heck, that's how this started, anyway.
Special note: I talked my aunt down, now I only have two and a half weeks of pure hell to go through.

He should just part from his friends and journey by himself, that is what i would do. Killing everything in my wake. Raizing villages, pillaging and raping! Ahahaha, thats my kind of vampire

Thadius LaFontania is not the kind of vampire that would go "Raizing villages, pillaging and raping!".
If the pendant swiches your fate with that of the person nerast you is that with all spells good or bad or just with spells that do damage, and can you cast a spell on your self or would it go to the person nerests you? If you had an animal closer to you than a person would it be hit or are only people efected?

Any spell, any spell at all, that would deter him from his course, is given to another. Good or bad, it doesn't matter. I mean, you might cast a spell that would give him plenty of gold, but then he wouldn't have much incentive to continue.
Thadius is not at this point the person who would destroy half the world. HOWEVER, if he stumbles across the right combination of minds, then there's no telling what might happen.

Then the best thing to do would be to have him land somewhere and find someone who could help him control how his mind-sets meld and how that changes him. Some random friend of his parents from way back when or just some one who happens to know where the artifacts are would be good.

Thadius should try to ditch his friends and face his enemies alone. (leave them on the ship or somthing) My guess is he cant be hurt real easy with that pendant. If a Wizard attacks him then the closest person next to him is the wizard that attacked him, but if his friends were with him then they would be the target.

If I was Thadius I would begin to wonder if there was somone who is working behind the scenes to cause all this turmoil with my kingdom, and is using the Wizards to get rid of me.

Just a thought: what if it isn't the person standing closest to you but the person who is emotionally closest to you? In that case, it could be a good idea to get rid of it. And by abandoning his friends he leaves them to the chance that A) they try to follow him and somehow put themselves, thadius or all of them in a bad situation or B) the wizards find them and decide they're fair game. Also, even though the boat moves, Thadius was moving before the wizard found him. I'm assuming that if the wizards were able to track him the second he stopped moving and that they'll be able to find the boat wherever they drop anchor. That's all for now.

I think you need to decribe more of what the spells actually look like, perhaps a dark cloud with a skull as the death spell, and something else for the banishment. What the spells do are in good detail, now focus on the appearance

Thank you very much.
Now, let's get a very good idea of what's going on here...
Thadius was resting in the inn, i.e. he was still. It takes time to transport from here to there, so while Thadius was resting, the wizards got a fix on his location. That's how they knew where he was. It's a little risky to teleport five feet in front of a moving target and end up inside him/her. Not pleasant.
No, it's not the person who is nearest to your heart, as proven by the fact that the advisor dropped dead, and not any of your friends. Also, the wizard doesn't have to be close to throw the spell. So an innocent could be near you and suffer.
Now, about that appearence thing, I'll get to work on that. You see, I normally write the bare, skeleton structure of a story. Normally I'm not good with details. But I'm trying.
