[Anarok]

Chapter One: Rebirth

The wind swept over the grassy plains, a thin green wave showing the motion that the wind created along the grass. “You, Me we’re not so different you do realize that Anarok, don’t you?” The voice whispers behind Anarok.
“We do? Then why can’t I see you?” Anarok asks just looking around but never looking behind him, his brown hair moves slightly from the gentle breeze as he sighs.
“This is all a dream isn’t it?” Anarok smirks
“Perhaps or maybe it isn’t. Who are we to decide what is and what isn’t?” The voice laughs jokingly.
“Will I ever see you?” Anarok sighs slightly and just looks at the ground, already knowing the answer.
“You presume far too much for you own good Anarok” The voice snickers “Expect me soon but prepare well, others will not take kindly to what is going to happen.” With those fading words Anarok whirls around quickly to see who is talking to him only to find himself suddenly bolting upright in his chair in class.

“Ah, I see we have someone keen on learning for a change, am I right Anarok?” The teacher gives Anarok a cold and intimidating stare.
“Uhh…” Anarok begins to think of something before it is quickly cut short by the sudden bell.
“Hmm, looks like your lucky Anarok, Class dismissed” The teacher snorts and starts cleaning off the board as everyone gets out of class.
“Anarok what’s going on with you eh? You’re always falling asleep in class lately, to much partying or something?” Someone laughs and gives Anarok a playful shove.
“I wish” Anarok sighs as they all head out for lunch.

The day passes rather uneventfully but the dream still lingers heavily in Anarok’s mind as he comes home from school, “what the hell was that all about…expect me soon?” Anarok thinks to himself as he opens the front door to his home and then enters, the house is once again deserted, typical for his family since most don’t get home until an hour or two later than him
“Ugh, this sucks!” Anarok sighs as he pours himself a drink and looks out the window overlooking the bush valley below. Suddenly a sharp spark of pain surges through his spine causing him to drop his drink and scream in agony. Again another bolt of pain surges through his body this time going through his very pains, causing another scream “What the heck is going on?!” Anarok yells out in anger and looks around for a possible attacker but sees nothing but air.

Suddenly the pain starts to subside and he is left alone once again in the house on the ground shivering and convulsing in pain. “Anarok!” A quick and sudden whisper in his ear causes him to sit upright and ignore the pain.
“They’re coming! Get out of there now!” And then silence once more.

He feels a sudden sting of fear surge through him and the adrenaline pumps faster and faster in his body urging him to get up and get ready. “Well, whatever it is has been right before…” Anarok sighs and gets up quickly and heads to his room and starts packing things.

“Got everything? Yes? Good” Anarok says to himself in some feeble attempt to reassure himself and looks around as he slings a bag onto his back. Suddenly the faint thud after thud of distant helicopter blades echo in the distance. “How could I miss that?” Anarok thinks to himself as his fear flares up and without thinking runs for the front door. As he looks out the little spy hole in the door he sees two men coming towards the door. “No Way” He thinks to himself and runs for the back door and opens it and slips out. As he gets out to the backyard he can see at least a dozen helicopters as specs in the distance, within ten minutes they’ll be all over this place.
He quickly and almost seemingly instinctively jumped his neighbor’s fence and then ran for the back gate and opened it and snuck past the men. Then suddenly he heard one of them shout “It’s him! Take him down!” And within seconds Anarok was running full speed down the road without a second thought let alone even thinking of running his instincts were taking over now.

Some part of him however felt different, somewhat changed. It was like he wanted to be chased, to be part of a hunt and now that wish was coming true, little did he know what really was going on. Suddenly the roar of the helicopter blades brought him back to reality and he was running down a alley and came to a dead end, a helicopter hovered over head and he felt his ears ring from the intensity of the helicopter’s blades and fell to his knee’s as he saw armed men running towards him. “This is it… goodbye” Anarok thought to himself with a small smile and then the world slowed down around him as the men aimed their guns for him. “Time to die monster” The man said and loaded his rifle.

A sudden flush of heat from above made reality come spiraling back as the helicopter above exploded in a flash of light, bits of flaming debris slowly fell to the ground and the explosion itself caused Anarok to hit a wall and bang his head against it. Minutes passed and he regained consciousness, frightened and fearful screams of soldiers filled the air as a mighty roar was sounded above, a creature with massive wings and a scaled body landed before Anarok and tore the soldiers apart within minutes.

“I told you to expect me soon Anarok” The creature turned and smiled, despite being covered in scales and seemingly intimidating just by sheer power alone the creature seemed gentle and for some reason Anarok felt his very soul settle for once. “Now then, let’s get you out of here shall we? And my look at you! Can’t have you in that silly human form now can we?” The dragon smiled and judging by the voice it was indeed female.

Anarok felt himself getting picked up and as he was getting carried the sunlight revealed a lot more of the dragoness’s details, her body was a soft cream coloured underbelly and a golden colour for the rest of her body and there was a fair amount of blood covering the dragoness from her recent killing spree. “Sleep Anarok, you deserve it” The dragoness smiled and the sudden lurch of gravity made him realize they had taken flight. Slowly he felt his vision fade and the world once again swirl into nothingness as sleep took over.

As he slept his dreams were alive with thoughts of flying and the events of the day, even as he slept he could feel his skin itch and his very depths of his soul change for some reason yet he couldn’t wake not yet anyway.

Morning came and he was woken up by the sound of the dragonesses rather exhausted snoring. “Heh, sleepy dragon” Anarok smirked to himself and realized that his body felt different even his voice was different, more snake like and his senses were all heightened to an extreme amount he felt different. He got up quickly and managed to somewhat walk to the lake where he peered down and yelled with a mixture of fear and joy.

“What Happened to me?” Anarok stumbled and fell and looked down at himself his very appearance was similar to the dragonesses, a soft cream coloured underbelly with a golden colour that covered the rest of his body, his talons looked menacing and razor sharp and his tail was long and thick and looked capable of crushing many things. However the one thing that amazed him the most was his wings the only problem was he couldn’t see his own.

“Like how you look Anarok?” The dragoness smirked and walked up and helped Anarok up slowly.
“What the heck happened to me?” Anarok stuttered trying to get his words right.
“You were reborn, welcome back to your true form Anarok, get to know how your body works, we leave tomorrow.” The dragoness smirked.
“Wait… what’s your name and what are we doing tomorrow?” Anarok gasped slightly as he made his wings stretch and extend as far as they could before giving a loud yawn.
“My name is Azura and we’re going home tomorrow” Azura smirked
