Anyone up for a good ol' game of DnD? I got a 20 sided die here and a knack for bein DM. On normal occasions I would say you could go nuts with your character creation, but I'll put a few races and stats you can pick from to make the game fair. This'll be a free flowing game, so just post away when you want me to roll the die after I post the event. The story will start at seperate areas for different people so I'll need atleast 3 people for this to be fun.
First of all races start with 5 points in every stat, depending on what race they are will modify this slightly. Also people get a free 3 points to add to any stat. The stats are as follows.
Strength: Used for wielding big weapons, carrying and moving stuff.
Endurance: How many hits you can take before kieling over dead!
Perception: Allows you to see suspicious things easier and makes you more accurate with any ranged combat from throwing to magic.
Charm: Not really important in combat but let's you lie and squirm your way out of situations.
Intelligence: Magical folk need this. It gives way to higher magical abilities and the ability to use and know what items are.
Agility: Lets you sneak, steal, perform acrobatic feats and gives you higher finesse with weapons.
Luck: Don't underestimate luck, It could get you out of any jam and let you get that lucky shot you need!
Races:
Elf: +1 intelligence +1 agility -2 endurance
Dwarf: +2 to endurance -2 to charm
Human: average!
Halfling: +1 luck +1 agility -2 strength
That's it, I tried my best to keep it simple but my fingers got away from me! :D You can give yourself whatever traits and skills you feel like, just be careful cause I'll give you a negetive trait or something to balance it. Uberness is impossible!!! :P |

| I'll give you 500 gold each, depending on what class you are will change your default armour and weaponry. A wizard won't be wielding a battle-axe and wearing platemail now will he? Unless it's some sort of super light super flexible magically conjured demon platemail.... but we won't talk about that until the time comes. |

Here is my character, PM me for any edits I need to make.
Name: Talane Eisif
Race: Night Elf (not in the above list, but you gave me permission. Also not to be confused with drow)
Class: Ranger
Sex: Male
Age: 67 (not very old for a night-elf)
Wieght: 183 lbs
Height: 6 foot, 2 inches
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Abilities:
Strength: 5-1(for racial adjustment)=4
Endurance: 5=5
Perception: 5+1(for racial adjustment)=6
Charisma: 5-2(for racial asjustment)=3
Intelligence: 5=5
Agility: 5+2(for racial adjustment)+2(Bonus points)=9
Luck: 5+1(Bonus points)=6
Traits:
-Dual Wield
-Low-light vision
-Naturalistic (+2 bonus for survival checks in forests)
-Sneak-attack (added damage when catching something off-guard, or flat-footed)(unsure how combat works?)
-Hawk-eye (added bonus to attack roll when using a bow at a range more than 20 feet)
-Track(+2 bonus to tracking above ground)
Equipment: Two short swords with sheathes, One longbow with strap, Twenty arrows with quiver, leather outfit, backpack, bedroll, 5-days trail rations, survival kit, med-kit, flint, three torches, 500 gold.
Physical Description: Talane is tall, and slender with a light purple skin. He has long, shiney white hair that flows down to his mid-back. His eyes glow a pale yellow, and he usually has a stern look fixated on his face.
History, and personality: The Night-elf race is one intune with nature. They live in small mobile villiages scattered in the woodlands. Talane was a part of one of these villiages, and reached man-hood at the age of 50. He left his villiage, in hopes of an adventurous life, but instead found nothing but destruction. Many races built permanent settlements, and were cutting, and burning valued trees. He grew agitated, and tried to return to his villiage. Unfortunatly, his villiage had moved on a long time ago, and he could find no trace. He took to living and thriving in the woodlands, occasionally journeying into town. He has gotten used to the other races perspective of nature, but still remains unattached from most other people. |

Sounds Fun
Ok, here's the start of my character. (Hehe, I also wanted to try something I just learned to do)
Name:Gleema FenhollowRace:ElvenStrength:5Endurance:4Perception:6Charm:5Intelligence:6Agility:6Luck:6
Description:Gleema is an Elven assassin. Born into one of the Elven Blood Houses, he was separated from his house at birth and sent to live with the Spymasters of the Clan. From that very young age, Gleema has studied and been immersed in the Arts of Death. Proving himself an accomplished assassin at a young age, his mentors gave him more and more assignments until he had become an outsider to his own people.
Today, Gleema works and lives outside the Elven Nation. He hides as a traveler, never staying in one place very long, and always waiting for the next message from Home.Feats: Guiltless
Throwing Weapons Specality
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope you like!
One Question though. When you said each character gets 3 points in any stat, was that 3 separate points in any combination of stats, or did you mean 3 points in one stat?
If it's the latter, I'll have to change stuff. If you have any questions, just ask. :D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Darn, got beaten to the Elven Punch!!! :lol: (it's the really good stuff at parties)
I'll figure out something Different. :oops: |

Fats, since you're an experianced assassin I'm giving you the trait "Guiltless." Here's what it means.
Guiltless: You show no remorse in all your actions. You carry no burden on your shoulders. It doesn't matter if it's a frail old man to a new born baby. If you're paid enough you'll do the dirty work.
Positives: You can sleep at night you sick b******. The evil sense you are a badass. They'll accept you more readily.
Negetives: People generally have an eery sense of you. Most good people will not trust you and the law will always suspect you. |

Seeing this is a free flowing game then I suppose I can start it now and everyone else can just jump in when they feel like it. Here goes.
Tavanesh
Talane was slinking through the forest. For hours he passed by all manners of beast great and small. He was searching for a specific animal. A particular kind of deer that provided very fine leather when crafted properly. The meat wouldn't be half bad either, Talane had not eaten in a few days. Not that it was hard for him to hunt, his mind was pre-occupied with recent events.
"Excuse me?"
Talane spun round with both short swords drawn, no one with mortal powers can sneak up on a night-elf. No one. His eyes met a tall figure cheesily dressed in a hooded cloak, and surprise surprise, you couldn't see his face! His voice was expectantly mysterious and had a hint of metal in it. As if it came from the inside of a tin.
"Reactions still sharp? Good. Here you go!" The hooded figure tossed a tattered old envelope at Talane who caught it, but his distracted eyes didn't catch the hooded figure disapearing. His voice however still managed a whisper of an echo.
"Watch out behind you."
Talane once warned knew exactly what was behind him. The smell of rotten meat and saliva. The warmth of its breath. The sound of it sniffing the back of his neck. A bear. |

Gleema was sitting in his little hole of a hiding place cleaning the gore off his gear when he was interupted by a tall figure in a cloak pointing with a metalic finger at a little red splodge on a blade.
"You missed a spot."
Gleema just glared at the thing, usually he would of slit its throat before it could raise its finger. But it managed to sneak up on Gleema and this worried him slightly.
"You might need this." The cloaked figure place a dirty old envelope on Gleema's desk. "Oh and I would pull out a weapon if you don't plan to go quietly."
Just at that moment there was a loud thump on the door behind Gleema. He turned to see what it was and when he turned back the cloaked figure was gone. Gleema unsheethed a sword and stood up in one movement as the door was turned into kindling. One experianced guard followed by two newbies burst through the door.
"Gleema Fenhollow, you are wanted on the suspicion of murder, put down your weapon and come peacefully." |

As a really quick action I use a wilderness survival check to identify if this bear can climb trees. I should get a +2 on the check due to being naturalistic, and I think it will use my intell score of 5. |

"Suspicion?" Gleema replied, arching an eyebrow. Had he been sloppy, had he forgotten something? No, he was sure of his work and confident in his abilities. They may have their suspicions, but they definitely didn't have proof.
Which meant this was a set-up. But who could have arranged it?
"Now I know you boys are just doing your jobs so... here's my sword!" Gleema stated casually, and tossed his sword, hilt first, to one of the newbie guards. At the exact same moment, two daggers appear briefly in Gleema's hands from somewhere deep within the folds of his clothing, only to disappear again. And then reappear as blossoming blood flowers in the throats of the other two attackers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Assuming this all goes to plan, Gleema's next action will be to charge the remaining attacker, pin him to the wall and retrieve his sword.
Gleema might remember to question the guard, but he may just run him through for ruining yet another perfectly good hidey hole. |
You rolled 18 Tav and accompanied with the Naturalistic trait you have I'd say you were quite succesful. Now seeing you used vital seconds judging if the beast can climb or not, he gets first dibs on the attack! Make a move or stay there and take it! (The monster can't climb, there isn't a tree that will hold him.)
The bear heaved its torso to conjure up a mighty roar. It raised both its gargantuan paws to the air ready to come down with a force mighty enough to splinter trees. Talane used his still scanning eyes to spot weak points under the bears arms. Everywhere else was solid muscle and thick fur. |
I'll accept your post as a suggestion as to what you want to happen and what you're trying to do but you can't control transpiring events Gleema, only I can! :lol: Anyway, unfortunatley you rolled a six, what you needed was an 8 atleast! So you're going to have a minor slip up.
Gleema attempted slay both the rookie guards with two throwing knives but when he reached into his cloak he found nothing. He then realised his weaponry was still on the table after being cleaned. The guards took this gesture as an invitation for combat. Eagerness and fear burned bright in the younger ones eyes. The perfect opportunity for intimidation. |
Well, normally I would count a check like that as a free action, but you're the boss. I attempt to make a dash for the nearest tree with many branches, and climb to a point the bear can't reach. (By the way, can you explain how are stats affect our rolls?) |
I worked the stats and rolls out like this. I roll the dice to see if luck will be involved, all you need is a 10 or more. If luck is involved I add luck to the dominant stat you will be using e.g. You're trying to move a boulder and you get a winning luck roll, 6 strength + 5 luck = 11 total action stat. Now what I do is minus the action stat from 20 leaving me with 9. Now to perform a succesful action you must roll 9 or above to succeed. Understand? :P
The reason you need such high rolls just now is because you'll probably pick up items and things on you're adventure. The monsters right now will be pretty weak too, I'm going to create a system where the strength of the monster will effect what you need to roll aswell. That'll make it easier at first :D. Also I'll create a system where what you do will effect your roll to e.g. If you go for a weak spot or a protected spot. |
I guess I'll try to join... though I don't really know how this works and what feats I would have... and stuff...
Name: Durme Barzak
Race: Dwarf
Gender: Male
Age: 32
Height: 4'1"
Stats: Strength:6
Perception:5
Endurance:7
Charm:3
Intelligence:5
Agility:5
Luck:7
Appearance: He is short & fat with black hair and a black beard. His hair is pretty short, and his beard runs to the middle of his belly. He has brown eyes and tan skin. His hair (facial and otherwise) is kinda unruly.
History: He grew up with normal Dwarvish parents as an only child and went out into the world when he came of age. He learned skills and stuff from his parents. His dad was a smith and his mom was an apothecary. His mom & dad died in an attack from a raiding Orcish tribe soon after he left, so he has deep-rooted issues with Orcs.
Tell me if I should put anything else. :smile: |
Hey, is it alright if I play?
Name: Zhaun Velve D'Thalack
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Age: 23
Class: Psionic Warrior
LV: 4
str: 5
end: 5
agi: 7
int: 6
per: 5
lck: 5
chr: 5
Alignment: Neutral Good
Physical Description: Hair styled like spines from his head along with his slightly pointed teeth and wide, unblinking eyes usually take people by surprise at first. Zhaun's skin and eyes are faintly grey while his hair is almost the color of cobalt-steel. He wears a very tight mesh shirt that shows off his build and loose, comfortable pants.
History: Zhaun's father was a battleborn and his mother could instinctively turn her hand into a crystal blade. Unfortunatelly(in his opinion) the sort of thing his mom did with that ability was chop up veggies for stew and his dad was retired from the service. Faced with the boring life he saw stretching out before him he decided to leave home to see the world.
Now, seven years later, he finds himself lost, penniless and hungry. Due to his experiences his powers and feats mostly concern ways to get himself out of sticky situations.
Personality: Zhaun is a tad intense, especially in one-on-one situations, and has no patience with emotional outbursts. If you are a friend, he will stick by your side no matter what. This intensity has gotten him in and out of trouble for his whole life, he can accidently start a barfight just by ordering a beer but he can also fend off a potential mugger just by staring at the guy and extending his claws.
Class Skills: Autohypnosis, Climb, Concentration, Craft, Jump, Knowledge (psionics), Profession, Ride, Search, and Swim.
Feats:
Crystal claws: your fingernails have hardened into retractable claws
Wild Talent: Your latent power of psionics flares to life, conferring upon you the designation of a psionic character. As a psionic character, you gain a reserve of 2 power points and can take psionic feats, metapsionic feats, and psionic item creation feats.
Dodge: During your action, you designate an opponent and receive a +1 dodge bonus to Armor Class against attacks from that opponent.
Narrow Mind [Psionic]: Your ability to concentrate is as keen as an arrowhead, allowing you to gain your psionic focus even in the most turbulent situations.
Powers:
LV1:
Metaphysical Claw: Your natural weapon gains +1 bonus
Biofeedback: You can toughen your body against wounds, lessening their impact. During the duration of this power, you gain damage reduction 2/-.
Catfall: You recover instantly from a fall and can absorb some damage from falling. You land on your feet no matter how far you fall, and you take damage as if the fall were 10 feet shorter than it actually is.
LV2:
Body Equilibrium: You can walk on nonsolid surfaces. |
Gallant,
If you're still taking new characters I'd like to join. I was thinking about playing a Human Mercenary. What rules are we using as a guideline (ie. what are the classes, traits, skills ect.)?
