All will become clear as we go along, but for now all I need for you to do right now is vote...

Okay, so far we have a Speed Storygame of 10 Chapters.

We have three suggestions for a genre so far, IF Tale, Sci Fi and Mystery.

I am going to add to that and say Fantasy - to have 4 options.

Again, 24 hours to vote - and whilst we're voting, I need suggestions for the final round, which is the description of the protagonist. It can be human, non-human, anything you like. The protagonist will be the final vote before the storygame begins!

I think the protagonist should be a well meaning senior citizen. Or perhaps NOT well meaning.

Haha, well - whichever wins as the protagonist, I will do my best to ensure the other suggestions get a look in as supporting characters, they are all inspiring ideas!

Here's the mix!

Pick 'n' Mix - Chapter 1 - The Trial

“Pssst! Oi! We’ve come to get you out of here!”

“I know.”

“It is Toveldan, son of Tovel the Noble” the voice whispered through the crack in the dungeon ceiling.

Dralion sniffed. “You again,” he muttered. “Learned how to swing a mace without tripping yourself up yet?” He didn’t wait for an answer. “Thought not. Then be quiet, you'll be discovered!”

It sounded like Toveldan had an army with him, but Dralion could only feel the presence of one mind.

“We’re coming down! We’ve got a disguise!”

“Tovey, thanks to your heroics last week, I am now chained to the wall.” Dralion waved his arms about in the dark to make sure his friend could hear his shackles rattling. “You picked the wrong moment anyway. I’m being collected for another trial. Go away.”

Tovey didn’t answer. The scuffling subsided, and the page’s presence faded from Dralion’s thought sphere. Well, it wasn’t really a sphere but Dralion imagined it as one – a boundary within which he could pick up a person’s thoughts – if anyone ventured close enough to him.

Of course, not many people dared. Dralion’s habit of involuntarily blurting out others’ innermost thoughts made him extremely unpopular, and almost got him killed. But the King spared him, keeping him here in this deepest of dungeons to perform the unenviable task of condemning his fellow prisoners to death.

Soon enough, the slimy dungeon walls glistened with the flicker of approaching torches, and guards' thoughts invaded his mind.

“Can’t wait to get this over with, its boar for dinner tonight!” screamed Dralion helplessly, before they shoved a cloth in his mouth and gagged him. He didn't struggle. Being only in his early teens he didn't have the strength or weight to overcome one, let alone three of the King's guards.

With a resigned air he let them lead him up the spiralling steps and out into the castle enclosure. It was the only chance he got to sniff the fresh air, and despite the stink of the pigs waiting to be slaughtered, it smelled sweet compared to the stench in the dungeon.

Ahead of him was the Cage of Truth. Thirty feet in diameter, its golden bars marked the exact limits of his extraordinary psychic reach. The guards lead him inside, where they removed his gag and shackles.

If there was any chance to escape this life, now would be the time to run, but he knew the crowds that encircled the cage would tear him to pieces. The darker the secrets a person might hide, the more reason they had to fear him. It was this fear that triggered Dralion's involuntary utterences. And that was really how the trials worked.

The guards retreated from the cage, and Dralion scanned the crowd outside. His heart jumped. What was Tovey doing there? What hair brained scheme had he concocted to try and free his friend now?

The cage door clanged shut. His first victim grovelled in front of him. The jarring fear he sensed from prisoners as they were first flung into the cage was always the same.

"Mercy! Mercy!” the words shrieked uncontrollably from Dralion's throat and the crowd erupted into cheers. This signaled the beginning of the trial; these words were on most prisoners’ minds when they faced him for the first time.

Out of the corner of his eye he could see Tovey jumping up and down. He blended well with the excited crowd, except for the large sack he was carrying. Dralion wondered what disguise he’d found for him this time.

He crouched down and looked at the prisoner. He looked to be in his thirties, well built, atheletic. A plan began to form in his mind.

Nice. You missed a comma early on somewhere, but I didn't see owt else.

Now, the cunning plan. He picks up a kidnap plot from the crowd (others want him) and chaos ensues.

Oh, and Wooot! Cross dressing phsycic* won! :cool:

Oh, and psychic* powers possibly entails something more than just mind-reading. Maybe he can manipulate the man's mind so he will escape?

They are good, but they do need some commitement and time from the writer. I've done a couple (Arms and the rather risque 'And your little dog too' both probably in the archives now,) and the best way is to limit them to only a few chapters. Both of mine were five chapters, written when I was more prolific.
