City of IF

Due to our illustrious IFY organiser discovering a life and many others on a hiatus for the summer, this prestigious competition has been on hold for a few months.

The IFYs is nothing without mass participation, so the executive decision is that it will now take place in September when it is anticipated that IF will be a little busier.

Now, some first round nominations and voting already took place, but that was a long while back. So, we could handle it one of two ways...





Continue where we left off and import all the nomination and first round threads to the IFY forum and go ahead and vote from what we have -

or

Start over again with fresh nominations.





Either way, the extravaganza will last approximately 2 weeks. :)


Over to you - what shall we do?

Voting is open until the end of August to capture as many voters.

I was a little torn on how to vote on this, on one hand I think that not only do the people who have been nominated and the effort that has already been put into it still deserve to be validated. On the other hand I think that anyone who might put up something great in the meantime deserve to get a shot also.
So maybe the solution would be to have two winners for each category. That way we still have our originals honored and anything new that might come up still gets a shot.
Of course should nothing new come up then problems solves itself.

I feel like the nominations we got for the last IFy were themselves a little half-hearted, occuring as they did right at the beginning of this quiet period.

Perhaps that is another consideration for this decision; the nominations themselves were affected by lack of participation.

That said, i'm undecided. We did do a lot of work.

*waves sheepishly* Myself being including in one of the many that have fallen of the edge of the earth, I would have to say I think it would be best to start over... I know that everyone that's stuck around (ie: Crunchyfrog, Cren, Smee) have worked their tushies off in the background.... and had all kinds of headaches over the years...

But I think a fresh start would get us on the best track to be perfectly honest. Things happen. It's difficult and I can totally associate it to being HIGHLY annoying when people disappear,... *guilty as charged*.

We could keep the results of the first round nominations and have a fresh round of nominations in September, to add to those we already have.

That would capture anything that has been added recently as Emperor has mentioned, without losing all of the work already done.
