Welcome to the beginning of the November Spotlight Competition!
For those who have not participated in a Spotlight Comp before, and to remind anyone else that did - (because it's been a while since the last one! ) here's how it works.
Any Storygame which has...
Chapters submitted on a regular basis (at least 2 chapters every 3 months)
Chapter length of approximately 1000 to 2000 words
High standard of spelling, grammar and punctuation
Spaces between paragraphs
A decision point at the end of the chapter
Subsequent chapters written based on the outcome of each poll ...is Stickied at the top of its forum. (Note - if there's not been a chapter posted in 3 months, Sticky Status expires!)
When there are enough stickied Storygames, we announce the possible contenders, and wait for the authors to accept the invitation to take part in the competition. They are also asked to provide an excerpt of their storygame to show off the best of their writing.
Depending on the number of entries, a minimum reading requirement is set for the voters, who then make a decision and cast their vote.
If there is a tie, the King will make the ultimate call as to who wins the Spotlight.
The winner receives their own forum for their Storygame, and a chance for their Storygame to be featured on the City of IF homepage. |

I guess I'll accept. Am very within two minds about it, but impulse has driven me here. I'll regret it later. ;) |

Four acceptances so far! :D
The vote is still 10 days off, but while we're waiting to see if any more qualifiers are going to accept this month, you have time to think about finding a worthy excerpt from your storygame. When the poll goes up, voters will be asked to read all excerpts as a minimum reading requirement before casting their votes - so make sure you choose your best!
Excerpts can be any length, but try not to go too far beyond 600 words if you can help it. An example of excerpts from a previous Spotlight can be found Here
PM your excerpts to Thunderbird please - who will be preparing them for the poll. :) |
