Pope wanted to start a thread about song lyrics, so here it is. Post your interesting songs here for people to think about. I'll start it off.

Listen to it.
Read it.
Yes, it is long, but the lyrics vary throughout.

Wow, this sounds like one of those readings of hippy poetry meant to make people think they are expanding their minds just by listening. . .Mixed with the rantings of a crazy guy with good vocal cords. By the way, I like some of the music by The Doors.

Over all it has a kinda depressing, almost demented feel, the word choice and over all beat of the song kinda like a march into madness. But, that's just me :P It's a good song, it's got some good sound, and I can see it's abstract nature being very appealing, especially to hippy types. I am in no way against hippies :P I'm just not one.

Also, wanna note that the section with him saying f**k over and over apparently was scrubbed out of the original release and left behind a kind of barking sound which is what lead to the lyrics "Kill kill kill" instead. . .Or something like that. Apparently the part about the killer was taken out entirely for the studio release, for obvious reasons. I also read that he kinda went into fits repeating the lines about the father and the mother over and over. . . .But, no specific facts on the matter, just some odd tidbits I scratched up.

An interesting song I hope no one takes literally in regards to family :P What do you think about it Hero-kun?

On the same line as the last(Kinda, I hope :P) I offer up this song!

I like it. I take it as a man who grieving over a lost relationship, and thinks odd thoughts along the way.

I'll check out your song soon.

I like the song you gave Pope. I wish I had more to say about it, but it seems I am quite terrible at this whole analysis thing. I will think on it more, but I wouldn't hold your breath  .

Well, most notably the repetitive nature of it rubs me in a bad way. The lyrics spend the whole time reinforcing the same point instead of progressing in any way I can detect, and the one line that seems to step out of the repetitive stride doesn't have any follow-up :P So while this song makes it's point, it is not something I would listen to regularly.

This vid for the song has the lyrics on screen.

Is music not repetitive in nature, and based on patterns? And while the lyrics do repeat, I would say that how they are sung varies.

As for Piano Man, I've always liked the song. It has good transitions from soft to hard, if that has any meaning. I don't know much about music.

For the next choice, I had a difficult time picking between two songs by the same band (one of my favorites, and extremely underrated). I went with this one. Lyrics here.

I agree, the way they are said varies, but that, to me, doesn't add anything to the words themselves.

I love Piano Man. It's one of those songs styles I miss. Not specifically the music, but the way the lyrics tell a story. I may just tell a short little thing about a guy who plays a piano, and yeah, it's not a balid, but it manages to express the feeling of the song with a bit of story and without saying the exact words of feeling trying to be conveyed.

*Giggles* This feels so much like a stoner song. I like it. Those voices make me nostalgic, even thought I've never watches Star Blazers.

Okay, here's one I play when I feel like being dark and a bit angsty.

*drops this here*

I'm gonna wake up, yes and no
I'm gonna kiss some part of
I'm gonna keep this secret
I'm gonna close my body now

I guess, die another day
I guess, die another day
I guess, die another day
I guess, die another day

I guess I'll die another day
(Another day)
I guess I'll die another day
(Another day)
I guess I'll die another day
(Another day)
I guess I'll die another day

Sigmund Freud
Analyze this
Analyze this
Analyze this

I'm gonna break the cycle
I'm gonna shake up the system
I'm gonna destroy my ego
I'm gonna close my body now

Uh, uh

I think I'll find another way
There's so much more to know
I guess I'll die another day
It's not my time to go

For every sin, I'll have to pay
I've come to work, I've come to play
I think I'll find another way
It's not my time to go

I'm gonna avoid the cliche
I'm gonna suspend my senses
I'm gonna delay my pleasure
I'm gonna close my body now

I guess, die another day
I guess I'll die another day
I guess, die another day
I guess I'll die another day

I think I'll find another way
There's so much more to know
I guess I'll die another day
It's not my time to go

Uh, uh

[Laugh]

I guess, die another day
I guess I'll die another day
I guess, die another day
I guess I'll die another day

Another day [x6]
