I sat in horror in the courthouse as Holmes's lawyer began talking. I was still in shock. My chair, and the bag of money were marked exhibit A and B in the middle of the room.

"...and I can prove this man guilty!" said Holmes's lawyer.

The judge nodded uninterestedly as he flipped through his newly aquired wad of bills...which had been deposited "mysteriously" in his mailbox that morning. I still wonder why anybody would make the mistake to put it in the wrong mailbox...

Suddenly the lawyer pointed at a tape recorder. He pressed the play button, and a voice crackled out.

"...Holmes, I'm going to steal a whole bunch of diamonds tonight. And if you say anything I'll kill you. By the way, my name is Whichston, and it wasn't Holmes but me that commited al lthe criminal acts..."

The lawyer smiled satisfied.

"I object" shouted my defendant indignantly.

The judge looked at him, then looked at the wad of bills and ordered the marshal to escort the gentleman out of the room.

The lawyer continued.

"Furthermore, there's more evidence all over! Look."

He pointed at a huge billboard outside. It read "Wichston is a criminal."

The jury gasped.

After two hours of evidence that had been "dropped" all over my flat, and witnesses I had never seen before, the jury finally came to a decision.

I sat in tension, hope still inside me, as I watched the jury representative speak. Sweat was clinging all around his face. Strangely, another jury member seemed to be pointing at him with a gun...but of course I was mistaken.

"We hereby find Wichston..." he spoke hurredly, glancing behind him nervously. " GUILTY!"

The courtroom broke into discussion.

"Wait!" said Holmes, who had been quietly reserved.

"What, Holmes?" said the judge.

"Look, I'm the hero, ok? But I don't think Wichston is guilty, he's just stupid. The real culprit is actually HIM!" he said as he pointed at a random man in the room dressed in a pink dress.

"Why?" said someone.

"Because I'm Sheerluck Holmes, and anything I say is right!" said Holmes.

"Ok." said the judge as he handed out the prison sentence to the man in the pink dress. "Ten years of prison for you, you thief!"

As we walked out I thanked Holmes.

"It's ok, but you'll have to write all my stories and compose them into a book."

I groaned as I saw myself writing for years on end, with the same crummy characters and style.

"Wait, Holmes, why did you pick the man in the pink dress?"

"Because I'm NOT homophobic."

"Holmes, you're a genius!"

"Evidently, my dear Wichston!"

Still, Watson could get his revenge. He could moonlight as a writer for Whoriarity and get the other side of the story down on paper <grin>
