#1: Story chapters in HTML? Author: sagittaeri PostPosted: Thu May 10, 2012 6:07 am

I have a fantastic setup that allows me to produce ridiculously beautiful-looking chapters in HTML (which I'm perfectly happy to share if anyone asks), however, I'm unable to use them within forum posts. This confuses me a bit since it has a "disable HTML option", which seem to imply support for HTML..

Is there a way for me to post up my chapters in HTML? Say, with iframes, or links to attachments?

Thanks for any help!

Not that it helps with your immediate need but I have posted a link to this topic in the Technical Support thread as that does seem odd to me but someone that is more familiar with how the site is supposed to work may be able to shed some light on this issue.

I found a good compromise to what I want, I think. For example, see this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13007622/the%20hidden%20crime.html

I just have to post this link up at the top of my SG, so users can open it up. In case anyone is interested in how I made my beautiful HTML:

1. Get a Markdown editor and use it to write and format the story
- OSX: http://mouapp.com/
- Windows: http://markdownpad.com/

2. In the editor preferences, set your own custom CSS. The one I've made and am using can be obtained here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13007622/Story.css

3. Get a Dropbox account so you can post your stories online (not visible in search engines, accessible only from the link Dropbox gives you): http://db.tt/ih0Vu23g

4. Using the editor, export the story into HTML (it should render beautifully in any browser), and upload it onto the Dropbox "Public" folder

5. Get the link to your uploaded file from Dropbox, and put it at the top of your SG. Smile

An example story file used by Markdown editors: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13007622/the%20hidden%20crime.md

We currently only allow limited HTML. The following tags should work:

table, tr, td, br, body, header, bgcolor

but no others. I'm wary of allowing all HTML because people can really mess up the site with a post if we allow anything. But if there are specific tags that you want to use, let me know.
