Music thumped the air from the sub-woofers as club-goers danced around and ground against each other on the floor, all talking, laughing and cheering when their favorite songs squeaked into life underneath the DJ's fingers. Millicent stood in a dark corner of the room watching all, her dark-grey eyes flitting enviously over the figure of her arch-enemy, Rosa Vandramen, who was dancing nearby with Daniel Renn, their bodies so closely entwined that they looked to be almost merged into one person. Her mind becomes filled with gruesome images of Rosa in various torture devices, her blood soaked body twisted unnaturally, her screams echoing through empty halls.
A sudden flash from a strobe light brings her out of her dark thoughts and back to the pulsing darkness of the club, her head throbbing in time with the beat of the crude music. Lifting a hand she places it over her temple, trying to will away the the impending migraine. After the dizzy spell passed, Millicent lifted her gaze to the dance floor again, her eyes searching for that familiar face she knew would make her feel better just to spot in the crowd.
Yes! She spots him lurking on the other side of the room, leaning against the wall, an unlit cigarette hanging from his lips. He told her once he would never start smoking, but he would never be caught without the little reminder of paths one should never tread upon. Millicent smirked to herself as she walked quickly across the room, her hips undulating from side to side as she drew ever closer to her target. A flash of baby blues sends a shiver down her spine as her prey's gaze locks with hers and a slow smile spreads across his lips.
"Well, look who it is," he said in a quiet voice, the smirk still playing on his lips as he took the cigarette from his mouth and tucked it behind his ear.
"Speak for yourself, jackass," she replied, reaching up to pluck the cigarette out from behind his ear so she could drop it on the club floor and grind it to dust beneath her four-inch stiletto heel. He gives her a half-assed pouty look before reaching out and pulling her closer with an arm around the waist and pressing his forehead to hers. Licking his lips slowly he looked into her eyes and smirked widely as his hand slid further down her back slowly.

"Well Jim, this is one hell of a mess," the potbelly detective said with a sigh to his young upstart partner as they looked down at the mutilated body of a half naked woman.
"You think it's the Cigarette Killer, Gus?" asked Jim, trying not to sound as ill as he felt. The detective continued to look over the body for a moment, his expression a mixture of anger and disgust, before giving a nod in response. "It's got all the hallmarks - the victim picked up in a trendy club, knifed to death in her own apartment."
"And this," Gus continued, stooping momentarily and sighing as he picked up a used cigarette, the butt soaked with the woman's blood. He looked at it for a long moment, his eyes darkening, before turning to a crime scene tech and dropping it in an evidence bag.
"This is his third victim this month, if you don't include..." Jim said, his low sinister voice trailing off as his body once again flushed with the desire to avenge the murder of his ex-girlfriend.
"Hey Jim, your chance will come to bring justice down on this bastard," Gus said, after glancing at his partner's reddened complexion.
Jim nodded stiffly and turned away from both his partner and the woman, scanning the rest of the rundown apartment with the hope that the meticulous search for more clues would distract him from the painful memories that had begun to flood his mind.

"I think we've got an ID on the vic" Jim said, looking into the purse that they had picked out earlier from the pool of blood around the body.
Gus turned to his partner, watching as, with gloved hands, the other man removed what looked to be a drivers license from inside the dead woman's bag and held it out for him to see.
"Millicent Hendricks" he muttered, and paused to look at the body before proceeding- "Well, her face is beaten out of recognition" he winced. "But we should be able to get a DNA match."
Jim gave a nod in agreement, taking out a transparent evidence bag and slipping the driver's licence inside, noting with disgust the spots of blood smeared across the plastic surface. "I'll get him, Christina," he muttered to himself.
Suddenly a scream punctuated the grim pondering that surrounded the two detectives, it tore through the air, tearing a hole in the fabric of silence that sent unprecedented shivers down Jim's spine. With a jolt he stood upright and cast his gaze upward from whence the sound came, his stomach turning into a rock as the shadowy source of the scream came into view for an instant before vanishing from the roof overhead.

(This is a poke just in case people forgot this game existed. I forget if this is against the rules, however I hate to see fun games die like this. *Sigh*)
