Greetings IFians!
The time has come, once again, to honor the next up and coming great Storygame with our Spotlight Competition!

You may have noticed a number of storygames have recently been recognized with Sticky status. This is because you have been selected for inclusion in our contest in recognition of your hard work and efforts (and skill and talent and so on.)

In fact, here are the actual guidelines for Sticky status establishment so those of you with other storygames on the site that would like to earn such a place in the forums may be aware of how you may achieve this for YOUR SG:

Any Storygame which has...
  • Chapters submitted on a regular basis (at least 2 chapters every 3 months)
  • Chapter length of approximately 1000 to 2000 words
  • High standard of spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Spaces between paragraphs
  • A decision point at the end of the chapter
  • Subsequent chapters written based on the outcome of each poll
...is Stickied at the top of its forum. (Note - if there's not been a chapter posted in 3 months, Sticky Status expires!)

ALL stickied SGs are in contention for the prize and its up to YOU the author to accept or decline your automatic nomination.

So for the next week or so, you may chime in with your acceptance or denial of the opportunity to capture YOUR OWN FORUM and a spot on the FRONT PAGE!

Congrats to those already on this list.

In the meantime, all IFians should be getting familiarized with these local favorites so they can become informed voters. There's some great stories here!

Ok, so the list of possible contestants are as follows:

Line of Kavanagh – Andolyn - Accepted

The Children of Leyond – Kalanna Rai - Accepted

Eden's Call – Lilith - Accepted

HATE – Vikas Muralidharan - Accepted

Escaping Eternia – misterbiz - Accepted

Worms of the Wasteland - Lebrenth

Please post here if you accept of decline the nomination, or if you feel your story has been overlooked and would like it added to the list. I hope to hear back from you all soon!

*Note: To Andolyn and misterbiz. If you plan on pulling for Fading Immortality, you will not be able to run for your personal SGs Escaping Eternia and Line of Kavanagh, but will run together for Fading Immortality.

Sorry, BBS, but those are the rules. I can't think of a single post of yours that meets those rules. You have some long content threads, but none of them even have decision points. Unless one of the future mayors decides to cancel it, that's how it works. I kinda like it- the rarity of the event makes it a very special honor. And TBird did offer a way to people to buy their own forums with fables.

If you keep working on one of your experimental, image-comic SGs, you might be able to argue that it would qualify for sticky status, and thus be eligible for a spotlight contest. Keep adding a few more chapters, make sure you're submitting quality art (as opposed to five minute sketches), and talk to the next mayor about the issue.

Doesn't Lebrenth's Worms of the Wasteland count?

I don't think it meets the word count by chapter.

Maybe not but I'd allow it since its a very valid SG imo. The wordcount issue was to keep lazy out of the picture but I don't think that can be said for an SG that simply chooses its words carefully to make sure the reader doesn't have too much to read.

And Kalanna... I'm about to PM you demanding you accept!!!

F5 TBird on both counts.

I was going to accept Kalanna's nomination on her behalf without her knowledge. Very Happy

I would also love to see Worms of the Wasteland nominated. Short sweet chapters is the way forward.

If nothing else, Lebby's story was a Speed SG for most of its existance. It's not quite fair to judge it harshly just because its chapters are short. When it was an SSG, they were supposed to be short. It's to be expected. Special exceptions can and should be made for excellent stories that don't quite meet one of the requirements for whatever reason.

Well, I was hunted down and stabbed repeatedly by someone *no names will be mentioned for respect of the newly dead* that I needed to reconsider my acceptance on this one.

So I accept for Children of Leyond...I believe I have just barely made the deadline for doing so.
