Announcement:

By the order of the High Mage Alar, there is to be a tournament to bring out the brightest and the most talented prospective mages. Winners, in turn, will be eligible to enter the Lyceum and train under the higest ranked mages of in the Kingdom.

Elgibility- Any race living in any part of the Baklaran Kingdom is eligible to enter this tournament. One must be above the age of eight and ten. No one below that age may enter, or severe punishment may befall any who ignores this rule.

Magic- Open to all classes and levels. Each battle will be held in special magic barriers to allow no harm to be done to any spectator. Each battle will happen on a neutral field, so there is no advantage for either competitor.

-This is going to be a cutthroat tournament. Once a year this tournament is held to find the most promising young mages, and each year many compete, but only a few enter the qualifying round. It is a process of elimination. Any losers in the qualifying round are still eligible to enter the Lyceum, that is if you survive.

Judging-Many high-level wizards will be judging this tournament to help cut down the number of contestants. Each battle will be judged based upon creativity, accuracy of spell, style, and difficulty of spell. Memorizing spells is approved, but the judges would like to see how well contestants combine the skills they have learned.

Penalties- Use of magic in any immoral way will be disqualified. Stealing of magical energy from another source equals automatic disqualification. Other considerations for disqualification depends on the severity of the error.

Prize-Known throughout realm, free entrance into Lyceum, and 30,000 gold pieces.

Welcome to A Battle to the End, a new experiment in storygaming. A Battle to the End will consist of three interwoven storygames running at the same time, each featuring a contestant in the magical tournament described above. The contestants will travel to the city of Vlusos where the tournament is held and do battle with their opponents, possibly including each other, until there is one victor.

Anyone can read any of the storygames. But unlike most storygames on this site, participation is limited. You can only play (i.e. post and vote) in one of the three storygames. You have to choose which character you want to play in the tournament.

The outcomes of the tournament matches will depend on the creativity and thought of your suggestions. If you come up with good actions for your character to take, you will defeat your opponents; if you don't, you may end up dead. Ravenwing, the director of the storygame set, will be the final judge of creativity and will arbitrate the outcome of the matches when necessary.

Readers must register and login to participate in the BttE. If interested in role playing Gorin, Yahoo or Jakeen, you may send a PM to the author of that character's story, or you can submit a request that they add you to the team on the respective character threads in this forum. The players direct the action of a storygame, determining what the author writes and the path the storyline takes.
