Our longstanding Games Master of IF, Idea Master is stepping down from his post as Games Moderator. Idea Master has kept watch over the busy and sometimes bizarre goings on in the Games Forum for longer than I can remember, and has done an excellent job in keeping it ship shape.

IM stated that he wishes to spend more time looking for new sources of Idearium, but will still be around IF.

The Games Moderating Stick has been passed to Phang, who spends far more time in Games than is healthy for her, so it seems fitting that she takes on the role.

Phang has passed her Writers' Arena Moderating Stick to Chinaren, a veteran competition and award organiser. (And he needs something extra to do to keep him out of mischief)

Thanks Idea Master for a job well done, and congratulations to Phang and Chinaren in your new roles.

Multi-Author Storygame Discussion Threads

Over the past year there have been various multiple author storygames that have required a related 'Discussion Thread', separate from the normal DP discussions made by the players.

Whether to move related discussion threads to a fable giving forum when the storygame gets promoted has always been a subject of debate. Although discussion threads shouldn't be earning fables, having them in a seperate forum from the storygames they relate to is cumbersome.

Well now we have a solution! From now on discussion threads will reside in the Open Forum, but a non-fable earning Shadow Topic will appear in the main forum with the prefix 'Moved'. This way you can still view and post to the discussion thread from the same forum as the storygame.

For an example of a shadow discussion topic, check out the Galaxy Raven 9 discussion thread in HEM

Our benevolant and most majestic King has tweaked the shadow topics so that they will bump to the top of the forum in the same way as normal topics, making them easier to find.

Note: Posting in a shadow discussion thread will route you to the Open Forum, but you can return to the Storygame forum in one click by using the 'Jump to' dropdown at the bottom of the page.

INFO STREET REORGANISATION

Over the past few months the council have been debating a reorganisation in Info Street to give more emphasis on the writing side of things and simplifying the newbie route.

Work has started on this with the merging of the Tourist Info into the Technical Institute, and the creation of a new forum for discussing storygame writing techniques.

More reorganisation is to follow including the introduction of a Welcome PM for new registrations and the possibility of more forums and threads moving into Info Street.

Another announcement will be made when the reorganisation is complete. Until then, please bear with us.

The Shameless Advertising thread is thinned out every month, so please don't feel affronted if your advert mysteriously disappears. Just take it as an opportunity to put up a new one!
