Three candidates have advanced to the second round of voting: Lilith, lordofthenight, and sir wax.

Here are the rules for voting:
You are eligible to vote if a) you joined the site before the election started (Apr 24, 2008) and b) you are Tourist rank or higher (i.e. 11 posts or more). Do not vote if you do not meet these criteria.
You may not vote twice in a given round, even if you have two accounts in the City. If you are voting from the same computer as another citizen, both of you must inform me by PM.
The second round of voting will run for five days, closing Tuesday evening, Pacific time.
If no one has more than 50% of the vote in the second round, we will do a final runoff with the top two contenders.

I am adding one more rule:
If you are in a group that is sharing a computer with other IF citizens, only two of you may vote. This rule only affects one group of four people (you know who you are). The four of you will have to decide between yourselves how to use your two votes.

This rule has been created to avoid the appearance of impropriety. I am not accusing anyone of anything, but having many votes from the same IP may raise some suspicions, and I think it's important that everyone trust this process and believe that it is fair and above-board.

Happy voting!

:-)

Oh dear. Such a difficult choice. It saddens me that none of the remaining candidates helped themselves with their responses to my exceedingly simple questions. What is an educator to do?

Well, as Mr. ofthenight did not deign to hand in his homework at all, I do not see how I can reward him with my vote. In fact, I shall have to consider appropriate punishments for his impertinence.

Mr. Wax's proposal of a 'torture division', while appealing, was obviously mere pandering; his lack of serious intent was indicated in the very same sentence by this appalling bit of prose:
Mr. Wax wrote: ...the new torture division i was going to secretly set up...
It further seems that Ms. Lilith, were we to place her in a position of power, would present a terrible example to the impressionable youth among our population. Witness:
Ms. Lilith wrote: I have already stated the things I wish to do to help the site increase it's membership base...
Pardon me for a moment: the bile is rising in my throat. Ahem. Yes, that's better. I fear that an administration led by Ms. Lilith would throw the City into a Dark Age reminiscent of the days of Mayor Smee. I shudder at the thought.

However, if there is one thing your amiable and puckish old SchoolMarm! does appreciate, it is the ability to work oneself into a frenzy of righteous indignation. Whenever I read this --
Ms. Lilith wrote: And btw, this... [SchoolMarm!'s moderate and reasonable proposals deleted] ...is hardly necessary.
-- I get a most pleasant tickly sensation in my ample belly. For this reason, and this reason only, I shall hold my nose and cast my vote for Ms. Lilith. May the Good Lord forgive me.

It's getting really, really apparent who's going to win this... The vote number is a lot lower than the first round, though. We almost had the whole of IF voting for that one. 49 votes, that was. Now, this...

Hopefully you do a good job, waxy.

Considering there were 50 votes last time around, it seems premature to draw conclusions based on 8.

Very well.

Whilst I'm a long time Lordy ally, and I think he'd make a great mayor, my feeling is that the poor demon is the longer shot this time.

Lily is a capable and experienced candidate, and long time IFian, but I'm going to throw my hairy orange endorsement behind Wax this time.

I believe that Waxy performed by far the best in the mayoral debates, and show the most enthusiasm for IF, which is where I get my things written. He is newer to the site than a lot of us old lags, but then perhaps an unbiased, fresh face is what we need.

Hence, I'm urging a vote for the unmeltable Wax! :D

*Takes a look at first post-time*

Oh. Darn. Ooops. Well, uh...

My opinion has not changed.

Although I do have to wonder, who was the person who voted for Lordy?

::EDIT::

Quote: *murmurs* As I recall, sir wax was trailing the frontrunner by ten votes at the beginning of the last day of voting...

Right now he's leading by 10, and is the only one to have been voted on for, say, the last hour or so.

I'm going to have to agree with China here. Not because I think Wax will make a better mayor than me - perish the thought :P - but because I believe he's sensible enough to make a successful mayor, to listen to advice, and remain level headed. I encourage people to cast their vote his way, and ensure we don't disintergrate into Chaos.

Basically, if you were planning on voting for me, vote for Wax instead.

Well, whaddaya know. The fresh new wax is winning! :D

And to think that if Lily hadn't voted for him, she might be winning right now. What irony. I guess that's the reward of over-confidence.

I've decided to place my full support behind Lilith.

I know lordofthenight would make a good Mayor, but he's just too far behind to defeat sir wax. He's also the dreaded Dark Chancellor, evil and malevolent plotter against IF- what havoc he would wreak in a position of such great power! *shudders*

Lilith, however, is popular, intelligent, thoughtful and actually cares about how IF looks, be it in the eyes of Citizens or simple Visitors.

Although sir wax has a great deal of enthusiasm, his manner of speech is... awkward, especially by comparison to the Lady of Light and Darkness.

A Vote For Lovely Lilith Is A Vote For Lovely IF- Wax Melts Easily Under Heat! Yay!

*produces a vast, unearthly choir fashioned from countless faceless (and very shiny!) golems from a handy pocket, and sets them to singing Lily's praises*

okay Cross,

A) dictionary wrote: wax - (verb) to assume a characteristic; to become; to increase in degree.

It's okay, i forgive you, common mistake.

2) If you look four post above thee, you will notice this:
lordofthenight wrote: Basically, if you were planning on voting for me, vote for Wax instead.

Lordy has dropped out of the race and endorsed me as the greatest in the world.

Ω) I'd rather watch the scantily clad marching band than your choir.

D) Lily voted for me last round, i wouldn't be here if she didn't. She wants me to be mayor too.

I don't know who i am exactly polling against here. *shrugs*

Sincerely,
SirWaxaLot

I hope you die- ah, that is to say...

Congratulations to our new Mayor, sir wax!

During the Renaissance, Spanish sculptors who made mistakes while carving expensive marble often patched their flaws with cera--"wax." A statue that had no flaws and required no patching wax was hailed as a sculpture sin cera--"without wax." The phrase eventually came to mean anything honest or true.

Congratulations to sir wax, who has won a majority of the votes in the most closely-fought election in IF's history, and thus become our fifth Mayor. :D
