Lights blinked furiously in the small, dark control room. A figure sat hunched in front of a small display screen, alternating between pecking at the keyboard like a mad hen, and attacking a small polystyrene cup full of noodles.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Elsewhere, in the marvelous City of If, a dragon was rampaging through the forest, Skiffville was currently in the process of rebuilding from whatever disaster had nearly leveled it this time, and in the Market Bizarre a band of dwarves haggled with troupe of lesser demons over the price of an intricately carved Dragons-Skull.
It is not hard to understand at all why, amidst all of this chaos and confusion, a small 'pop' and a Door suddenly appearing where there wasn't one before went almost completely unnoticed. A small black and gray cat, sleeping in the alley near where the door made it's altogether un-door-like appearance, merely glanced over at the odd doorway, and flicked it's tail.
Patience, It thought to itself, in a very cat-like fashion, and then laid back down and fell asleep.
The Door, however, apart from it's sudden appearance behaved very much like every other door in If. It just stood there. It stood there for nearly fifteen minutes before quickly swinging open. A man darted out and the Door quickly swung shut behind him.
The man was dressed in blue jeans, a black 'Pixies' t-shirt, a long black overcoat and a ridiculously over-sized fedora. He wore black sunglasses and in his hands he carried a small, thin black tablet in one hand and a small cylindrical cup of noodles in the other. He quickly tucked the tablet into a small hidden pocket on the inside of his jacket, and then looked forlornly at the cold noodles before tossing them into a nearby wastebin.
Tucking his hands into his pockets, the new stranger began whistling as he strode into the bustling City of IF.
Ok, folks, this here is just a prologue but I've got a DP already.
I plan to make this story similar to the serial Dr.Who (both print and television), one of the main characteristics of Dr.Who is that he travels with companions. I'm looking for those companions, if there is anyone that would like to volunteer, please post here! |
Interesting idea, Fats. And nicely written. Made me smile.
Have a quick look at the throwing away of the noodles, I believe you meant to look 'at' them.
Happy Writing :) |
| Traveller is a drifter, with his guitar slung across his back and clothes that look too ruffled to be accidental. That and he never wears shoes...as for the rest...have at 'er... |
| I'll volunteer as a young red dragon with a slight case of pyromania, who likes to try to tell people that he is a ferocious and magnificent creature when he full well knows that he is a city/domesticated dragon. |
| Just wanted to say that I'm really intrigued and will be looking forward to more. Sounds like a great cast of characters too. I also want to go on record as predicting that Dead's character will be armed with a pair of sickles (who says I can't spot a pattern now and then :) ). |
Idk. I had the sickle idea a while ago, and i thought they were cool.
But now, just for that, he shall be armed with the Magenta Quarterstaff of Very Awkward Moments. You stab people with it.
As for everything beside that, I will give you as much artistic license as you wish.
If you're too lazy to do it yourself, here is a brief description. He is a dead man walking.
Jk.
so he's an undead or necromancer of some type, and is totally crazy and chaotic, on account of the sea snails that have lived in his brain for the last sixteen years.
Banana.
That is all. |
It interests.
You seem to have an unusual fondness for cats...
I want to play, too! I'm a misty creature that usually wanders around in an attractive bit of negligeé and changes into whatever it can imagine, whenever it feels like- within limits*.
