I, Banthanar, being a Griffin of sound mind, bring to you a collective of tales from the world that we know. This particular tale is of no nevermind to me in terms of it's nature, but members of the mortal race seem to fear it, and so I believe it is worth relating to you.

It was sunset on the moor
And as he wandered onward
Father Brindel never took his gaze
Away from that which lied ahead.

Never once did he stumble
Never once did he lose his way
Never once did he take his gaze
Away from straight ahead.

For he knew that to the East
(It was North to where he trecked)
Stalked a horror so astounding
That he never dared to look.

A horror so immense
So horrific, so detestable
So magnificent, so--
No! Look onward, Father, look on!

But the more the Father thought
'I don't believe these tales
Of monsters in the moonlight
Wandering forgotten trails.'

The more he wished to see
If the stories all were true.
See, even for men with faith of steel
Curiosity makes them weak.

He turned his head just slightly
Then wrenched it back again.
Could it be? Oh, surely not.
No gleaming eyes were there.

He turned a bit further
Just one more nudge
Wait, was that a growl?
Back to face the North once more.

He couldn't bear it any longer
He had to have a look
God will save and keep his soul
If his Earthly body were to be took.

A scream across the moor that night
Heard by all, but no one listened
The foolish Vicar hadn't heeded warning.
And the were-beast took his soul.

Griffins know, and mortals too
Not to tempt the were-beasts
On the open moor at midnight dark
For this is when they feast.

Yeah, I suppose I expected this one to suck. 8 views and no responses...I fail. :|

You have not failed. This is linear lane. If you want critiques, you should say so.

I like your poem. It has a very mysterious feel. I love that. Do you plan to write more poems like this one? :duel:

I don't know, really. This one simply came to me, and I posted it. As soon as another comes along, I'll put it up. :)

I'm sorry I was the third view of the post and I couldn't reply, sorry about that. I think this was a very cool and misterious poem. And I'd love to see more, your poems insperate those who write fantasy.
