Hey everybody! I thought it'd be nice for the casual readers to post the Winners of my Word Poetry Contest here so you don't have to shlog through all the posts in the main contest arena to find which one's won. I'll post The poem, the round, it's subject, and it's author.

Enjoy!

Round 2-Life

Life

A cruel and twisted torment,
A honey-soaked bliss,
It never lies dormant,
And its plots carry twists.

To her I love and I hate,
I've never been decided,
For she provides and she takes,
On rare occasion, I find myself delighted.

On one hand she's quick,
Yet she drags on so long,
Like swimming through a brick,
Or singing a love song.

I just know that, in the end,
I'll look back and sigh,
Because I'll realize my friend,
I was born to die.

Round 3-Trains

Untitled

It

Starts

Slowly

But

Before

Long it

Begins to

Chug down

The Line

Unabated

Path defined

Gaining speed

And Momentum

Charging Forward

An unstoppable force

A marvel of technology

Locked into its course

Like a Marathon runner

Its on its way, to a destination

To be docked with the next day.

A station to drop its precious load

And gather another for more profits down the road

Though its been outdone in speed and agility, its might is still its capability.

Like a great career, or a budding government, a new relationship, or a hallowed covenant,

The train gains power as it goes, flexing and waxing as it grows, and as time goes on, everyone knows,

Locomotives still steal all the shows. Never will they be outdated, though they've been evolved and technologically updated.

They've captured the fascination of generations, filling the imaginations of millions with miniature landscapes complete with citizens.

When one sees our civilizations as a giant mind, connected by highways and byways in kind, we open our eyes to find, the core of our thoughts are defined, by the locomotive as it charges down the line.

Round 4 - Fate

Untitled

The ties that bind us pull us back
Everything of the present is ready to attack
But the future is a golden bird
Beckoning us, the call we heard
In what is to come we do elate
And this little bird, its name is Fate.

Round 5 - Tigers

Lovers

Tiger fights Dragon
in the dead of the night
He pounces, she thrashes
They grapple in tight

They dig in their claws
He jabs with his teeth
She rolls him across
and breathes in deep

Upwards he thrusts
To send her higher
Her wings she trusts
As she screams her fire

She clamps on with talons
Lifts him into the sky
He relies on his talents
To hang on as they fly

She screams in defiance
As he lets loose a roar
Her spine aligns in compliance
As he gouges her more

He flips her around
and chomps on her chest
she falls to the ground
at his violent behest

Wildly he scratches
and digs in his claws
Across his back she matches
Red blood she draws

She furiously screams
Her flame billows out
Her glowing eyes beam
In this final bout

He roars in his rage
His blood goes to boil
released from his cage
The war becomes toil

And in one last gasp
She claws him in tight
He slays her at last
with a final bite

His jaws opens heart
His tongue tastes her blood
They finally part
And lay in the mud

For the rest of the night
Resting under her wing
Recalling the fight
It makes his soul sing.

And she in her heavenly place
deep within
delights in herself as she tastes
the real win.

Round 6 - War

The Hell Where Youth and Laughter Go

All shall see them, and some may know,
But few will notice, where they go.
Their soulless faces, and forgotten eyes,
Forever stand, in one final guise.

And what have you, to say of this,
You who lie, and live in bliss?
Do you, with laughter, earn your wage,
Are you an actor, upon a stage.

I knew one once, both shy and bright,
Who had never even, been in a fight.
He wanted no more, than for you to see,
Why he fights, and why they flee.

But now he's gone, away to die,
To foreign lands, and a foreign sky.
Ever hungry, and full of dread,
Soon your hero, will be dead.

So as his brothers pass by, in sullen gloom,
Marching onward, to imminent doom,
And while you laugh, and sing, and play,
Remember this boy, remember this day.

Round 7 - Light

Your Light

You and I coexist as well,
As a twisted yin and yang.
I reside in the dark because
It's a safer place to stay.
Yet you try to bring in your light,
And shine my safety away.
You come and search all the dark depths
But I hide to your dismay.
You promise that you will save me
Because I refuse to pray.

You bring your light and walk about,
Try to purify my soul.
You try to lure me from my dark
And promise you'll make me whole.
But you won't pull me from the black,
I'll just stay and watch you stroll
As you try to lure me with talks
Of pure happiness and gold.
But with your promise comes a price,
And I will not pay your toll.

You walk straight out of my domain,
Defeated and all alone.
Where you will forever reside
Until you're placed under stone.
You'll stare into my precious dark
As you mumble and you moan.
You say that you really don't care,
I know that you envy my throne,
Because you know that my darkness
Came from the first light you shone
