After looking at the header I decided I didn't really like the solid background and want to try a background more like the message background.

If someone better at image manipulation than I am wouldn't mind could you take this image and make the grey orange?

Woo, I'm posting this as a new message. And it only gives that option because I'm in the Open forum.

And I've just had a little test on my Door Handle thread - it works!

It's good, very good, and better than the bold orange I have to agree. My personal concern now is whether it stands out enough? Not for me to judge though, I'll go with the majority!

(PS... everything that's posted up until now is showing as a new chapter and... I dunno if this is related, but all the forum pics in the districts have gone!) :shock:

If you give me a new image I'll use it :grin:

Either a darker orange on the image or 3px a light orange and 1px a dark orange would probably work. The image is 2x2

Everything being a new chapter except for what is added using the new layout is a known issue and will be fixed right before we go live.

The images issue is because you're in the test directory which isn't completely up to date on images. That will be fine when we go live.

Ok for some reason it let me put another pixel of orange on it this time...

I'm not sure I like this better then the original though.

Your thoughts?

I've put Smee's back up for you to look at.

The problem is the images are blockey to start with and the text is also blockey.

The darker the color the more noticeable the blockyness of the text is.

Plan B : rather than 2 white and 2 orange, I've gone for 1 darker orange, and 3 incredibly pale orange, almost white.

That was actually the first image Crunchy gave me.

There is also a 1px of orange version which looks sort of like what we have now except it's orange and a 2px version which looks peachy.

I'm fishing for what the final decision is...

It appears that these small images are tiled across the strip. Is there any size to set these at where they won't tile, but rather blend together? If so, we could try resizing this:

It looks like the height is 24px so if you did something 24px tall it will only repeat horizontally (probably only needs to be 2px or so wide)

Bold - no blockiness on the text. Now we're getting somewhere. Very nice!

If we could make it perhaps a little more muted, not quite so in-your-face, like the general orange we have around the city already, I think we'd be perfect.

I don't think its supposed to blend, except to match the theme, which I think it does nicely. I could try something of a gold rather than an orange I suppose.

I don't know, maybe if you changed the white part of the gradient to a different shade of orange. Just one man's opinion of course.
