Ladies and Gentlemen... I bring you... Ihniwid! I Have No Idea What I'm Doing!

The first thing you'll notice is... well, okay, the first thing you'll notice is my odd art style. I don't use a ruler, I don't touch up the pencil, my scale is awful, my perspective is questionable, and I can't draw the same thing twice. But, eventually, you will notice that the story itself has no text. Yes, that's right... Ihniwid is a storygame composed entirely with pictures.

The voting might be odd at times, since it also revolves around personal interpretation, but... I'll wing it. There might not always be a poll, but I'll try and gauge the popular opinion. It'll be an adventure for everyone involved, eh?

Ha-ha. Keep it fresh, Shille, and don't stress out if we ask you to draw something outside of your skill. Just bring it into your own territory; do what you are comfortable with.

That said, I HAVE to go with the plunger (or is it the bulb of a tulip?).

Oh, don't worry D, I have no doubt you guys'll be wanting me to draw something outside of my normal comfort zone within a few chapters. I welcome it. This storygame isn't going to take itself very seriously, so I welcome the wild, wacky, and whimsy. Don't be afraid to make weird suggestions, especially as the DPs get more loose. If I can't draw it, I'll manipulate the story until I can. Or I'll subvert it entirely. I've got a few aces up my sleeve, lying in wait. :3

I'll wait a few more days before I throw up a poll... I'd like to get a few more people involve, if at all possible...

As for the plunger... I think half the fun of this storygame is going to be in the difference between what I had intended to draw, and what everyone thinks I drew. If you say it, (and I can see where you're coming from) then we'll go with what you say. A plunger it is.

If we're allowed anything, grab the rolling pin and the tiny manbag. Maybe the book so you can brain people with it.

Is that a witch? I thought it was a wizard...

When it comes to voting for what we see, do genders come into that as well?

But I'm pretty sure the amorphous magical being didn't cause the storm. It was pointing out the problem, not magicing some magics.

I... good question, WB. I'll say you can take everything that you can reasonably carry. You'll get the manbag for free- the spellcaster is going to give you a few freebies based on what you pick. Sorry, BBS, I don't see where you're getting needles. I think you're talking to the objects above the sword, to the left, but I don't see where you're getting 'needles' from that.

So far, I have:
-Sword
-Axe
-Plunger
-Rolling Pin and Book

Any other requests? It'll be polling soon.

Head says keys. (I think they're keys?) to the left of the rolling pin.

Heart says PLUNGER!

There's a spear there in the bucket.

Its a wizard who was pointing out a problem

and I thought of the thing in the middle as a magical herb.

Also a backpack and beginner's spellbook below.

heck... take everything! lol

How is this going to work is we want to take more than one item?

I reckon we could fit the book and maybe the keys/herbs/ whatever's between the daggers and the rolling pin into the backpack, so take that with those regardless of the weapon.

Are there any clothes in the barrel, or should we mug the wizard?

Edit: Actually, now that I've mentioned it, I really want to mug the wizard. Is that an option?

I've tried to think of several ways to do this... and in the end, I think we're going to have to vote by survey. I'm asking you do to more than click on a circle and hit submit... but this is also harder on my end, too. So, think of it that way. XD I'm going to base this off of everyone's favorite* D&D rule- encumberance.

To vote, pick a set of items whose point value is less than or equal to ten. This represents how hard these things will be to draw... I mean, how hard they will be to carry. You can make up to three item sets. If you do, please rank them by preference. I'll chart them, play with the math and weigh the options if I need a clear winner, and post the results along with the new chapter. Cast your votes here in this thread, unless you feel strongly about a "secret" ballot sent by PM. Either will work fine.

Clothing has been brought up- clothing will be provided by the wizard. The style will depend on the objects you grab. (Unless you mug him. He's not giving you any free stuff if you mug him).

List of Objects
(8) Sword
(8) Spear
(8) Axe
(8) Plunger
(8) Flail (Ball and Chain)
(2) Shield
(6) Nun-chuk
(1) Herbs
(1) Keys
(3) Rolling Pin
(5) Book
(2) Satchel
(10) *Mug the Wizard*

Example vote:
1) Sword and Shield (8+2)
2) Nun-chuk, Rolling Pin, Herbs (6+3+1)
3) Book, Satchel, Shield (5+2+2)

Too bad you didn't make it 11 so we could get the keys as well as a weapon / shield combo

group1 wrote: (1) Keys - We will probably *need* these
(5) Book - If it's a spellbook we won't need any weapons
(2) Satchel - Who knows what goodies we can get out of this
(2) Shield - I'm not convinced that this guy can use herbs. He looks a bit unprepared for this whole thing...

Plunger, Keys, Herbs (8+1+1)

Group 2
Book, Shield, Rolling pin (5+3+2)

Group 3
Nun-chuk, Herbs, Keys, Sachel (6+2+2+1)

:D

Note, Group 1 is specifically chosen to deal with the locked, blocked toilet that's causing all the thunder over the castle. :-o

Group 1:
Mug the wizard (why does this count as 10, again? Do we get enough from mugging him not to need any of the weapons?)

Group 2:
Backpack, Nun-chuck, Keys and Herbs (are we assuming he can use any of the weapons?)

Group 3:
Backpack, rolling pin and book (If we get this combo, I want it to be a cookbook. Then we can make some delightful pastry something and carry it into the castle in the backpack, where everything will be resolved over snack-time.)

Thank you all for your patience in this. I promise you, there will not be another DP quite so open ended for some time. I'm torn between the option which was ranked consistantly highest, and the option which appeared the most frequently. Since I have biases toward both, I'll let you all vote on it. This is a no-holds barred vote-off. The first option to get four votes wins.

As for some of the comments... the point values were chosen specifically to rule out specific combinations of items. Sorry, large weapon fans. XD Mug the wizard counted as 'ten' because that allowed it to fit inside of the ballot, instead of being a separate question.

I think the Nun-chuck herbs, key and satchel option is the way to go. You have a weapon, something to use in food, something to try and open locks with and a bag to carry it all in. Although all 4 items can be considered weapons in the right hands.

Nope, no plunger. I waited until the poll results became clear before showing off that sketch. ^_^ If it appears over there, then that means it's never going to show up here. The plunger was a close third, but in the end it lost. I'm not too heartbroken- drawing that urinal over and over again would have been tiring.

But... we've gotten four votes. The vote-off is over. Nun-chuk, Herbs, Keys, and Satchel wins. I'll get to work on the next chapter. Ughhh... now I have to figure out how to make these things useful... I had meant for the herbs and keys to be shurikens and sais. Aw, well. This is the type of thing I had planned for. ^_^

Oh, hey, look! I haven't forgotten about this... I've just had no idea what to do with this. It doesn't help that my printer borked, leaving me with questionable scanner access. Oh, well. It's just an experiment. If I were taking this SG seriously, I'd put more than an hour's worth of effort into the art.

The winning result was herbs, keys, nun-chuks, and satchel.

So what should our nameless protagonist do next? I've tried to put in enought details to provide for several options, some of which may not be obvious. Don't hesitate to suggest something silly. And remember... if you can't tell what I drew, I'm not going to tell you until after the vote. Half of the fun is taking a misinterpretation and running with it. It's how you got herbs and keys, after all.

Awww, poor little bunny rabbit! I am shocked and appauled! ;)

This is a very fun project you got here, Shille!

Andi's right, there is definitely something in that bush. I say our 'hero' threatens the bush with the nun-chuk to see what pops out of it. And the bunny should be left entirely alive and intact. *giggles* ;)

Roll on the next installment!

After much thought and deliberation, I have decided that DP options can only determine actions for the unnamed protagonist. All other factors are off limits so that they might be abused at my leisure. So, the three current options I have so far:

-Stand around indecisively
-Kill and eat the bunny
-Attack the bush

Well, those signs look interesting. They all point the same way, but they all have different designs on them. Do they indicate destinations, I wonder?

We already know there is already a castle out there somewhere with a lightning cloud over it.

Hmmm. Perhaps we should break up the sign and keep the four pointers. Never know when they'll come in handy.

Or use them to make fire, and smoke the herbs.

Then there's Ignore the bush AND the Rabbit and keep going on to the next town.

But where's the fun in that? I like the concept of collecting stakes from the sign (in case of vampire). I mean... this could be Bunnicula!!!

Of course, I also like the idea of the rabbit being a distraction, a polymorphed dragon or something of the like, giving whatever's behind him in the bushes a chance to pounce from behind while he studies the fuzzy bunny.

So there's another option... study the rabbit.

Seriously, I square to drunk that I'm not bob, that I was chanting "Ninja, ninja!" in my head while I was reading this! Ah, good brains think alike!

Now, don't attack the friggin bush, leave the bunny alone, and confront the witch to see what's going on and what in the world she wants you to do. *nods*

Maybe...the rabbit is...

(Be warned kiddies! BLOOD, EXTREME VIOLENCE and MORTAL PERIL lie beyond the link! Do not click if you are of a delicate nature, prone to 'soiling' yourself, or have a pet bunny rabbit! You may NEVER think of it in the same way again!!!

But seriously, as silly as this clip is, if you don't like blood and guts (or Monty Python) don't!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcxKIJTb3Hg

Not quite so easy to kill and eat that bunny! Bet you're wishing we'd brought a sword with us now. ;)

Maybe our hero should bolt, just in case, as we don't actually know what's in that bush.

Run away to live to fight another day!

Ultimately, I opted to disallow seeking instructions from the witch/wizard, as (s)he is not in panel, not to mention that this SG has no text, dialogue or otherwise. And anyway, it's already a pretty big poll. I should next have easy access to a scanner by Monday, so I'd like to have the vote wrapped up by then. I'm not sure what we'll do if we have a tie. If a vote-off won't work, I might have an auction or a quiz or something.

Umm... okay then. That's about as clear of a majority as we're going to get, I think. I need to close this so I can get to work. It looks like we are indeed going to hug the bush. Congrats on the winning option, Pope. Your mind is a scary place.
