The quest begins. We have initiated Chakra’s development as a character, and introduced a few of her friends. The Wise White Witch, whose personage was once used by Chakra’s friends to tease her, appears to have arbitrarily placed a great responsibility on her. Chakra must choose an escort to safely deliver the Thinker to a destination in an unknown land. The various skills of the escort should be well rounded to successfully challenge the unknown. Chakra can only choose a limited number to accompany her.

Summary: Veronici- Finer Magician with mastery of Wind magic, can also cast a little Ice and Water magic. Possesses good leadership traits

Seani- Finer Magician with mastery of Water magic, can also cast Earth magic. Keen interest in beasts

Asher- Coarser Magician with mastery of Health magic. Developing Pounce skills as well. Strong leadership abilities

Knute- Coarser Magician with mastery of Strike and Pounce. Strong, heavy hitter

Choice- Coarser Magician with mastery of Curse, developing the Finer magic of Light

Holden- Coarser Magician who is close to mastering the extremely powerful but dark magic Oblivion, mastery of Curse

Bathini- Finer Magician with mastery of Light and Shadow magics. Older and more mature than Chakra and her friends, she continues to help Chakra develop her Light magic

Ordoc- Coarser Magician with mastery of Health and Strike. Older and more mature than Chakra and her friends, he has a working relationship with the people of the Mainland.

Four people will travel with Chakra and the Wise White Witch. Who do you think she should choose? Suggest individual characters or teams, and I’ll set up a poll in a day or two based on those suggestions.

i think she should sit morosly by the water and feel sorry for her self.

you never know whats hiding under the mysterious life givn blue of the ocean whether it be bad or good , evil or benine, it would have alot of impact on the story , and the pathetic fallacy of deep blue waters and rain will serve as a great way to keep the mood, plus the emotive contenet of her sitting by the water felling bad may call to an empathic deep sea mystical creature which may befreind her or attack her.

so letting her sit by the water could leave a lot of plot twists open for use :P

Asher-this group will need a strong leader, and I think Asher with his Health and attack skills will be a great asset.

Knute-A bit crazy, but we need a little humour in the group. But also he would also be a good person to act as defense.

Bathini-She can help Chakra improve her Light skills and it would be good to have another woman in the group other than just Chakra and the Wise White Witch (WWW).

Ordoc-He may have contacts in the Mainland that could be useful. Also he could help Asher with the Health spells.

Great new chapter Ethereal. Very interesting decision point. Its almost like you have something to prove. :D

Here are my choices for a good group.


Ordoc. Mainland contacts and health mastery are obvious choices. Plus a good striker may come in handy.

Bathini. Spell mastery and a good teacher for the slow times.

Holden. Maybe not a great choice for this quest, but I want to know more about him. Has curse mastery.

Seani. A friend with earth magic. Plus she's hot.

I'd go with Seani, Asher, Holden, and Ordoc.

Seani has a keen interest in beasts, which means she already knows some of the dangers out there and might be better off at mapping a path around the more dangerous areas.

Asher is an obvious leader with strong health magic, and I don't know why but I kind of like him.

Holden seems to be a good choice also because he knows a different style of magic than anyone. He would be a fierce opponent if they are forced to fight. But since we know so little about him, I think we could replace him with Bathini.

Ordoc already has the contacts, would be a decent guard and probably knows more on how to deal with people they come across or cities.

I tallied the recommendations so far. Asher and Holden stand out in front, with Ordoc and Bathini closely trailing. Veronici, Seani and Knute have all been suggested. The only one not mentioned so far has been Choice (well, I suppose he didn't want to go into the Unknown Realm anyways.)

I set up a poll based on the suggestions I have so far. The poll will run for seven days. I haven't even started the next chapter, so I imagine this poll will actually run to its conclusion.

Vote on the team that you feel will have the greatest success escorting Chakra and the Wise White Witch into the Unknown Realm.

Excellent story, with rich detail and good flow. I'm enjoying it.

Of the three teams I pick the first - If I had posted earlier I might have wanted a slightly different group, but I missed that phase.

I think Seani will be a valuable companion, with an assortment of skills. Asher and Holden are on all the lists, so the choice all boils down to the other two really.

I was just wanting suggestions earlier, to get an idea who seemed favored or preferred. I knew I'd boil it down to three options for the poll, since combinations of four can make a bit too many options. I used tick marks to tally each time a character's name was mentioned to include as part of the escort.

I placed the two most popular in every group, and at least one other female character in every group, when I broke it down into three teams.

Well what with the lame poll I suppose he was inspired to ramble. Now I feel such guilt for subjecting everyone to such a poll. Ohhh, my own personal agony...the pain, the pain.

The next chapter I'm moving beyond just Chakra and her issues. I hope this inspires a better poll and a little more interest in my story. Of course if Chakra ends up sitting morosely by the water and feeling sorry for herself, then I'll have to add a little more fluff to the next chapter. I'll get us there, though, and hopefully in an intriguing way.

Great chapter. I missed the suggesting characters phase too. I voted for the option with Seani and Ordoc, although I think I would have liked Knute instead of Ordoc in that group.

I am working on the next chapter. If the voting should suddenly swing a different way, I'll have to change a few names and scenes. Chp4 should reveal a little more about the direction Chakra's development as a character is taking and set the stage for greater action.

This storygame has been nominated again for storygame of the month. When voting time comes around I encourage everyone to VOTE FOR FINITE COSMOS. I really want to see my work in its own forum (of course!)

I am not bored by it. It's a very unique approach to writing a story. Well since the vampire ninjas are out of the question, you could add flying monkeys and smoking talking trees. 8) (Just read a review on my school's production of The Wizard of Oz.)
