Actually that's "chord" not "cord".
Communications really needs to be opened up. A message to others of a potentially enormous "epidemic" (if nothing else can describe it) should be shared with the additional advice that standard quarantine measures have been insufficient..... And stuff like that.
The Dragnet is the objective as I see it, and the biggest threat to containment. They're mobile and all they need to do is get to a populated planet. I was outvoted, but I think we should stay with the ship to make certain the threat is dealt with. If it is heading where we think it is, try to arrive at the same time (or just slightly before) and destroy it before it can land. It's fairly damaged already.
I'm surprised we don't have any offensive options, considering we know their flight path and we're a faster ship. Why not speed ahead of it and throw out mines or some kind of explosives?

I've always enjoyed your skiffy's Chin, so this one was the obvious choice for my next catchup-choice. Did your original skiffy ever end, was it Captain Ben? Also the other one with the strange 'Leader' type world.
You're right though - for some reason they never drew in quite the crowd some of your others did.
Anyhoo - I'm up-to-date on this one now, and whether I'm late or not, I voted for the probes, and jump ahead plan.
This has been enthralling reading, with a nice touch of spooky and I'm looking forward to where it's going. The badies at the moment have some characteristics shared with the Flood from the Halo stories, although the freezing is an interesting addition.
