Well there obviously must be shades around because the man half expected them to be a shade.
Maybe wave the book at him, and see what his reaction is? |

I suggest that they attempt to reason with him. The more the merrier when there are shades about, right? If all else fails, like crunchy said, show the book and see what reaction that elicits. |

I've been dead for a while, but glad to see my character suggestion finally got in.
Anyways. He's a cruel, amoral bastard that doesn't care if Smur and Co. live or die by Shade hands. Smur should try to reason with him using his own logic. The archaeologists are going to try to find out what sort of powers the old man possesses (Precognition? Mind-control? Pyrokenisis? Why not all three, they're all cool.) and if he's related to, descended from, or IS from the tribe of Collectors. Heck, he might be the Collector counterpart to Smur. |

a woman's gentle words never go astray when aimed at an old man. compassion might be the way to go.
but then having written that i find myself thinking -heck no , this guy would see it as pity or a weakness.. maybe just get smur to give the guy no option - simply stay put.. stay at one end of the cave and continue on with your talking, it will draw him out... |

 Which one is this IM? Sorry, I seem to have lost the old Challenge thread. This character is actually Algus' challenge! Still, that doesn't mean he can't be combined...

The one who lived over a store of blue glowing rocks and claimed to have powers while sounding mad...this seems to be it all right, and I paid you a small sum of fables a while back, I do recall.
I also recall that part of that was that he DID have powers and surprised everyone. |

Ah. Yes, I vaguely remember this. Bear in mind I've been distracted with RL lately, plus I'm kinda drunk now. 'll check my PMs and stuff. |

okay, i voted for them to stnad up for themselves/get a bit agressive.. to me it seems by the far the most realistic reaction that Smur would make. he doesnt come across to me as a pushover! |

I am so going to get you Lily. ;)
I'm working on the next chapter of Tired at the moment, but this one's next. I'll leave the poll up, though I think I can merge the two that are winning if it remains tied, so no biggie. |

*grins* I'll only vote to MAKE the tie, not break it. In some ways, I am a petty, petty sentient creature. :o You may have some difficulty with algu's suggestion now... Observe the challenge thread. ;) |
