Well, thanks Smee and whomever else voted.

It seems to have swung towards the city. If you haven't voted yet though, don't hold back though. I haven't started the next chapter yet, actually I have not even really thought about it yet, I've been busy, so I will check the vote before I do and work on whatever. Very Happy

Append:
13 votes! I think that is about the most votes I have ever had in one of my stories! Thank-you all for taking the time to read and contribute, I love you all*. Love

*But the pretty girls mostly.

Good chapter. I like the new 'love interest' (although Barbara Cartland it ain't!) Wink

I'm going to go for the fairies defending the cannons. You've already said that the Gnomes main defence is their machines. If you can keep them from being destroyed, Chunder has a real chance. Well, I say 'real chance'... it should be able to hold out for a while, anyway.

I still think Phang's going to win tho. Very Happy

Nice chapter Smile

I tend to think that the faries should defend the cannons, walls, and themselves at all cost.

I have no problem in being left out. Frankly, there's no way to advance the plot that I'm involved in. Note that EH isn't present either.

Well, yes. You and Sorrow are currently in with Evil Homer's plotline, which was in last chapter, and will be in next chapter. I am taking them in turns.

Okay, I will put up a poll for EH now!

Great chapter! I love the "Cow of Doom" Smile

Here's an idea for King Chundyer: make it look like the cannons have been nullified, wait for Phang's army to close in, then open fire at close range. To do this, he'd have to put the faeries next to the cannons to block Phang's magic, and maybe also bring some of the cannons back out of the way, far enough to be unaffected by Phang's magic, but close enough to be able to be brought out quickly.

As far as the gnomes' other army goes, engaging Phang's army is probably too risky for them, but they can cut off its supply lines and threaten Cra-yon pass. Their objective should not be to defeat Phang in battle, but rather to limit Phang's ability to lay seige to Chundyer. If she has to pull back to deal with them, maybe by that time the humans will have joined the fight, and there may be a real chance to defeat Phang.

Mmm, option 3 seems to be leading by quite a margin here.

Any more suggestions on general strategy, for either side?

I feel another chapter coming along very soon! Very Happy

Hey chinaren,

Great chapter, I read it awhile ago. I agree with Key's plan, sounds like a good one to me.

The Cannons need to be used to their most effective if we stand any chance. Close range mass destruction sounds fun.

Happy Writing. Smile

Decision points are definitely getting tougher. Good work China! Very Happy

Hmm... Homer can't possibly let poor little Sunbellina fall to darkness without a fight. He's going to have to split the party. I don't think he'll lose sight of his priorities though. It will be a small split, hopefully with the maximum possible effect.

One suggestion is to send Key, Areax and DukeReg after Sunbellina. The pot is a moste potente and dignified item and already has a bond to the little girl. Areax will lend them some speed.

Scouty Solomon would be a useful addition too, but that depends on how much speed a horse can make with two passengers and a chamberpot weighing it down, and also on whether Key can locate the girl through his powerful magics or not.

Another option is for Evil Homer to ask the twisted witch what she meant by saying Sunbellina had power. More info could lead to a completely different decision being made. Cool

I agree with stoat that the decisions are getting harder. Sorrow has stated his desire to meet with the witch at some point and I assume that he will meet up with them again?

The best strategy might be to keep moving towards the goal and wait for Sorrow to approach them with demands or reveal more of what he is up to.

The witch Stoat might be able to give more information about what Sorrow wants with the Duke’s sister. It would probably be worth asking and hope for a good answer although she doesn’t seem to enjoy answering questions.

I didn't want to be this evil, but you're the author. And you know what's best, of course. Very Happy I don't see any speculation as to what Sunbellina is being used for. My theory, of course, is that somewhere Sorrow/Phang will need to sacrifice a young virgin, thus aiding Sorrow's/Phang's plot to take over the world.

Of course, the Witch's divining will lead to figuring out that Sunbellina is necessary in Sorrow's/Phang's plan (I do that because I'm not sure who's working for who) and EH and friends will need to go and find her.

I'm with Stoat (the player, not the witch Wink) - I don't think we can just leave Sunbellina in Sorrow's clutches. DukeReg, Key, and Solomon sounds like a good pursuing party. The only one I might add is the witch herself. We'll need her to retrieve the Black Heart, but we might not need her for the journey (and I'm sure she's got ways of catching up). Besides, she seems to have taken a shine to Sunbellina; maybe she would want to go.

Phew, finally caught up.... You posted alot in the 3 days my internet was dead.

I think that EH should send just Solomon out to find Sun, as this would mean I get my own story arc (he he he) but sending Duke Reg as well would reduce EH's party's power considerably. Key could come, never know when an enchanted pot could com in handy, and the bond it has with Sun would be useful (somehow, i'm sure you could work it in)

Did I mention that it'd give me my own story arc

Keep the great work up Chin!

Thanks for the comments so far all.

I think if the party splits, then the Duke would pretty much have to be a member, he wouldn't have it any other way.

If they don't split, then EH could likely persuade him to stay with them.

I have put episode 12 poll up, how to use the fairies and their magic against Phang's hordes.

Key's plan of 'pretending' the cannons are out of action so they take the attackers by suprise sounds like a good plan, so they will do that if the 'protect' the cannon poll wins, and exit polls seem to suggest it will.

For the Gnomish army in the field, hitting the supply lines seems to be the way to go, but any other options welcome!

Chapter 15 .

Phew! That was a long chapter, and bloody hard to write as well for some reason. Confused

Anyway, there you go. The Horde is in the City of Chundyer and the king has fled west with a force of unknown size. Meanwhile the Gnome army is to the rear, and may attack before the city is pacified. If Phang sends a force after the king it may be too weak to see off any other attack and take the city.

So, suggestions, comments and all that jazz please!

Nice chapter! The Cow of Doom part was hilarious. Laughing

I think taking out the gnomish armies and securing the city is more important than going after the king. It's actually good news that the other army is coming after us; if they were to retake Cra-yon pass, it could cause us no end of trouble, but as long as we engage and defeat them, our fearsome reputation will be secure.

So I say secure Chundyer first, then fight the larger army.

I'm with Key on this one. There's no point in splitting up and leaving both forces too weak to do the job they're assigned to. Gather your strength.

Loved the harpies and undead attack. That General is a sneaky piece of work! Razz

Do I really need to ask as to who took Dean the head?
And I suggest that we take the city and use it to fight the other army. Just to drive the point home.
And I want to show up dangit!
