FCD

From IFki

FCD, or Function Key Chat Death, is a phrase that was recently coined at the Bar of the City of IF Inn.

It is used when the Chat has idled for an inordinate period of time, roughly equal to 0-1/(1*Number of People)+1 Earth Minutes.

Its creation and wide-spread adoption was gradual, but the exact point it was first suggested is said to have centred around this (no doubt apocryphal) conversation:

[09:21:39] Crossfire: *wanders a moderate distance away*

[09:21:46] Crossfire: *returns*

[09:24:54] Crossfire: There should be an abbreviated phrase for Chat Death which isn't so... clunky.

[09:25:06] violins_cry: Chat Doom?

[09:25:41] Crossfire: Noooooo... ooo... ooo... ooo. Something incomprehensible to anyone but us.

[09:25:52] violins_cry: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

[09:26:00] violins_cry: No idea.

[09:26:15] Crossfire: FCD! Like F5 (agree) in the City at the moment...

[09:26:25] violins_cry: I'm just waiting for my lamb chops to defrost.

[09:27:50] Crossfire: So we say, "Lol. Serious FCD W00t111.", and everyone else is like, "That's so anachronistic. It comes from the days when the Internet was new, games were fresh and merchants in MMORPGs weren't selling virtual methamphetamines on the side. Get with the times... MAAAN..."

[09:28:07] violins_cry:... LOL.
