Usually it's Gloom who is profane, but now suddenly it's the narrator as well. Somehow, this is unfitting, since there have been no previous signs which evince a profane narrator. I prefer a collected, passive narrator; let Gloom do the dirty talk and the dirty deeds.
As for the DP- I think Gloom should try to confuse the young cop through speech. Obviously, he is nervous and inexperienced, so it's possible that Gloom can make him change his mind. But he better do it quickly before reinforcements arrive; he should seize any chance he has, especially if the young cop lowers his guard.
Let's hope that if he escapes... again, he will actually make some headway in his investigation. Gentle's clue should assist him...

As for the cop - There will be evidence that the bullet didn't come from Gloom's gun. Stand his ground and reason with him. Get the cop to examine the body.

I say blow his head off. It can't get any worse now, can it? Since the officer will have seen him leaning over Gentle's body, it would be better if he eliminated him. It'll be worse off in the long run, but if the cop reports back, then he's in some deep <Bleep>. Better to have it worse in the long run than not have a long run at all...
Would it be possible to kidnap him like he did to Peach (Only difference obviously being he doesn't rape him) He could dump him in some remote corner of the lower levels and if he was lucky he might find shelter there too. I'm also assuming most people wouldn't care about a serial kill on the first level, so he could dig up some info there... If the people are sober enough to answer...
